Following the announcement last week on the timeline for UK endorsement of #ISSB, this week the FCA published details in its Primary Market Bulletin of how its rulemaking will be affected. In particular: - Once the UK endorsement is completed in 2025, the FCA will consult on amending its rules to move from TCFD to UK-endorsed ISSB disclosure standards. It also intends to consult on strengthening its expectations for listed companies’ transition plan disclosures, with reference to the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) Disclosure Framework at the same time. - Companies may also wish to start reporting voluntarily against ISSB Standards prior to the conclusion of the UK endorsement process. The FCA may explore additional guidance to support issuers subject to its Listing Rules by indicating how reporting based on ISSB Standards can remain consistent with its existing TCFD-based rules, which issuers must continue to meet. https://lnkd.in/ekGUJWu4.

Passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) materials could be a game changer for the most vulnerable in the developing world. Whilst this article suggests that voluntary carbon markets could help finance their development, experience tells us that VCMs struggle with all pathways where MRV (Measuring Reporting Verification) draws on assumptions/counterfactuals. It’s more likely that philanthropic funding of research and installations would succeed - in a pure “contribution model”.

There have been a fair bit of significant developments recently relevant to disclosure ⏬️ Specifically when GRI and GHG Protocol are complementary to IFRS standards by International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) ➡️ Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is developing a comprehensive taxonomy for its Standards, based on XBRL, a standardised format for organising and exchanging business information. It is great to see the publication of guidance on Green, Social, and Sustainability (GSS) Sukuk released by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank and London Stock Exchange Group. The guidance outlines key principles and best practices for structuring, disclosing, and reporting on GSS Sukuk, ensuring transparency and alignment with international standards. I think everyone now recognises the importance of fostering sustainable financial practices and this guidance is a significant step in the right direction of helping raise awareness , providing insights into the issuance and management of GSS Sukuk (for those not aware) and hopefully continuing to pave the way for more sustainable investment opportunities in Islamic finance. On Earth Day there are posts with lots of pretty pictures and pledges. But what should count is recognition of differentiated responsibilty for biodiversity loss; novel ideas to engage with traditional stewards and initiatives to do ecosystem strengthening. What exactly is Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) doing that is NOT business-as-usual. Are we still tracking corporate disclosures as important actions?
