The Financial Reporting Council has published the 2023/24 Annual Review of Corporate Reporting. This review sets out reporting expectations for the coming reporting season setting out the findings of its monitoring of UK companies’ annual report and accounts alongside its expectations for the upcoming reporting season. Observations: • Quality of reporting in the FTSE 350 has been maintained, and that there have been improvements in several reporting areas.  • Given the complexities for reporters, there were comparatively few compliance issues in premium-listed companies’ reporting against the TCFD framework. Recommendations:  • Unbiased discussion of both positive and negative aspects of performance should be included in the strategic report. • Adequate disclosures are required on inputs and assumptions used in impairment testing; impairment reviews should appropriately reflect information elsewhere in the annual report. • It should be clear how any material climate change impact has been reflected in the financial statements, including the impact of climate on impairment decisions. • Company-specific material accounting policy information should be clearly disclosed. • Disclosures on going concern and related matters should be consistent with information elsewhere in the annual report.
