HETI RIPORT #UK #impact_investments Impact investments managed in the UK reached £76.8bn at the end of 2023, a 33.3% increase on 2020 figures, according to a study published yesterday by the Impact Investing Institute. The report, entitled The UK impact investing market – Size, scope and potential, was produced through a market survey and engagement with more than 100 stakeholders, estimates the amount of direct impact investments for which the majority of investment management activities occurs from the UK (the capital managed may be invested outside of the UK). It shows an increase of £19.2bn compared with the end of 2020, when the first iteration of the report estimated the size of the market at £57.6bn.

#Hargreaves_Lansdown Hargreaves Lansdown backed the £5.4 billion bid for the FTSE 100 fund manager today from a private equity consortium, a deal that will end its time as a listed company. The Bristol-based finance firm has been listed in London since 2007. It said today that the final offer valued its shares at 1140p in cash and would include a 30p per share dividend for the financial year which ended on 30 June. Compared to the Hargreaves Lansdown share price before the approach was first made in April, the price is at a premium of over 54%. The consortium is made up of CVC, Nordic Capital and ADIA. Hargreaves Lansdown is named after its founders – Peter Hargreaves and Stephen Lansdown – who set it up as an investment tip sheet. #Aegon Aegon has strengthened its largest workplace pension default fund with enhanced ESG integration and private markets investment offerings. The 700,000 members currently invested in the £12bn universal balanced collection fund will benefit from improved returns, value for money and a wider range of investment opportunities as a result of the transformation, set to take place from Q3 this year. #HSBC #UK HSBC UK announced a new partnership with carbon accounting startup Greenly, providing a carbon calculator for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to measure, assess and address their carbon footprint. Despite some positive trends, with market participants expecting inflation to drop to 30% within a year, the elevated expectations among households (72%) and firms (55%) pose significant risks to the inflation outlook. Baziki emphasizes that these high inflation expectations could lead to adverse outcomes, such as increased price and wage setting pressures and potential currency risks. As inflation continues to decline, the CBRT's cautious approach, as seen in its latest inflation report, reflects the need for careful policy adjustments to ensure that expectations align more closely with reality.
