As part of its strategy to reduce their carbon footprint, save costs, reduce waste, increase reporting efficiency and increase compliance, NHS England has produced a Clinical Waste Strategy. By the end of 2024 - all NHS trusts should be reporting on clinical waste produced with a minimum accuracy of 95%. Digitisation is absolutely essential for the strategy to be delivered. Turns out, robots can do more than just take over the world—they can also make GP visits less painful! Our cancer screening project is proving that Asa, our AI receptionist, is more than just a pretty algorithm. She’s out there handling appointments like a pro, freeing up time for admin staff and keeping patients happy (who knew that was possible?). After a busy 2 days at #NHSConfedExpo, the Apteco team are heading home tired but happy. We’ve learnt more about the data challenges that face the NHS at national level, at ICB / ICS secondary care level and at trust / PCN primary care level. Applications for the digital boost grant are closing on Sep 13 (NEXT Friday). Harlow Council are keen to use the entire pool of money but there's a short application window. Here's some additional info for anyone interested in applying that I got from the business forum this week: - Max grant is £2.5k but you can ask for less for smaller projects - This is match-funded, so if you pay £2.5k, Harlow pays £2.5k - You have to cover the full cost up front, but they will reimburse as soon as you have an invoice and show the project is started - Projects DO need to demonstrate that they're started but don't have to be completed to receive reimbursement - It's not available to cover ongoing costs like salaries or rent - Harlow Council is open to novel and new ideas to use the funds even if they haven't been specifically outlined in the grant #grants #funding #opportunity #harlow

A 'Tilt Towards Technology' I'm sure many of us didn't need to read another report to know that the NHS is in "serious trouble"... But the Lord Darzi review does highlight some opportunities for health and care in the UK... It is clear that the NHS must harness the benefits of health and care technology in a more joined up way, in order to: 1. Unlock Productivity 2. Improve Patient flow Through Hospital 3. Has good quality data to feed the model A great example of how the Hippo team and Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust have made some real impacts in the healthcare setting.

Which are the most widely used EPRs in NHS Trusts in England? I asked NHS England and NHS Digital, and after a couple of weeks of waiting nobody seemed to have an answer 😟 so I have done some digging and the results are in.. 1. Oracle Cerner - 35 2. The Access Group Rio - 28 3. TPP SystmOne - 27 4. System C - 21 5. Dedalus Lorenzo - 14 6. Epic - 13 7. Altera Digital Health Sunrise - 11 8. MEDITECH Expanse - 8 9. Nervecentre Software - 6 10. OneAdvanced Carenotes - 4 💡 In acute trusts EPR usage is very diverse, but Cerner is the most popular option (35 out of 116 acute trusts use Cerner). In mental health Rio is the leader by far (24 out of 58 mental health trusts use Rio) with SystmOne in second place (16 out of 58 mental health trusts use SystmOne), and in community SystmOne is the most popular choice. 💡 I can also see there are 14 trusts without an EPR (scary!) and interestingly 10 trusts that are running a bespoke EPR. HMRC: Hyperscale PaaS for Hyperscale Performance. HMRC offers an exemplar blueprint for a Platform Architecture, and how it can enable rapid digital service innovation at hyperscale levels. HMRC's Multi-channel Digital Tax Platform (MDTP) employs Continuous Delivery at scale, operating a cloud platform for over 130 user-facing applications powered by over 1000 microservices. The platform delivered financial support to more than 12 million employed and self-employed workers during the pandemic, processing 67,000 job claims within half an hour and handling 440,000 applications for government grants on the first day of its operation.
