This is one of the best moves in the world. How many of us go to payday loans to borrow money? Not many because their interest rates are astronomical. The International Monetary Fund and World Bank charge very high interest rates. More African presidents should emulate the AES countries (Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso). The World Bank and International Monetary Fund are in Africa to siphon resources out of the continent. The continent has trillions of dollars under its feet, yet it begs for millions of dollars, which are peanuts compared to what it has. #WakeupAfrica #wakeupBlacks #RiseupAfricans #RiseAfrica #BlackandProud

Well that rattled a few people!! 😤 Last week, I shared a speech from a wealthy American footballer to graduates who stated quote unquote… ”My wife’s life began when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I am the man I am today, because my wife leans into her vocation. My wife embraced her most important title of all - home maker”. 👉🏼Many women disagreed 👉🏼Some men totally agreed. 👉🏼A few men thought he was an @rse. Now I’ve been a stay at home mum for over 16 years. Not because it was my vocation. It was a CHOICE my husband and I made together that one of us would always be home to raise our daughter. When he had a back injury, I was the breadwinner. When he got better, he was. In some households, BOTH parents HAVE to work just to make ends meet. It’s not a choice. It’s not a vocation. It’s a necessity. Of course it’s easy when one of you is making MILLIONS, but that wasn’t the case for us. We struggled. There was extra stress on one person to provide. It wasn’t rainbows and fairy tales. Sacrifices were made. Some people will always want to have both. Careers and available to their children. It’s not easy, but it’s possible. Thankfully I eventually found a way to do that. Bottom line? It’s about figuring out what works for you. Together. Not telling others what they should be doing and when they'll start to really be happy and live. _________________________ 💸 It’s me, Dal Walton. Showing beginners a way to make a 2nd income working just 2-3hrs a day from home passively. Oh, and if you’re really good like me, it’ll replace your 9-5. 😉

Here I was, speaking to a group of 10-year-olds, and I was so excited to hear about some of their chosen careers, ranging from footballer to interior designer, lawyer, and beauty technician. At their age, I wouldn't dream of telling my Nigerian parents I wanted to be a footballer. The choices were very limited. As Gina Yashere said, as a Nigerian child, you have four career choices: "Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, and Disgrace to the family." And, trust me, no one wants to pick the fourth choice. I had the pleasure of presenting via Teams to a group of Year Six pupils at a primary school in South West England this morning through the organisation Inspiring the Future. After taking a break from volunteering when COVID started, I decided it was time to get back to it. Sharing my career journey, from being a Marketing Executive to a Programme Manager and now as a Non-Executive Director, with these bright young minds was a rewarding experience. Can you believe it? When I told them about my job as a Programme Manager, only two people had heard of the role and understood what it entails. It was a stark reminder of how important it is to inspire young minds and let them know they can dream big. I emphasised the importance of finishing school and getting their GCSEs, but also that university isn't the only path. Whatever they choose to do, continuing in education or training is key. I would like to encourage organisations and individuals to get involved with Inspiring the Future. As an organisation, do consider offering work experience to secondary, college/sixth form, and university students. Also, provide paid voluntary days to your staff to participate in such activities. A big thank you to NHS England for doing this and encouraging me to get involved, and to all the managers who have supported me in this endeavour. Inspiring the future starts with us. Let’s empower the next generation to explore all the possibilities ahead of them. It's hard to explain why this #customer review meant so much to me without getting emotional, but I'll give it a go as it's important. On my first night as a #juniordoctor working in paediatrics I was called back to the ward to take blood tests from a child. I was 28 years old, 1 year since qualifying as a doctor, and had never taken blood from a child before. I was petrified. There was no-one else around who could do the job so, with the help of the awesome paediatric #nurse (who literally talked me through everything) I got the job done - But I felt like a terrible imposter. So over the next few months I spent countless hours on the paediatric ward taking tests from children of all ages, placing IV lines in newborn and premature babies, negotiating with scared children in A&E at 3am and watching and learning from senior colleagues. I was determined to perfect my skills. Was it worth it? Well 12 years later I managed to give this child a positive experience, so I would say the answer to that is a resounding yes. Whatever profession you are in it’s so easy to forget how hard you’ve worked to acquire your unique set of #skills and experience. #proficiency comes from practice practice practice… And if your lucky, confidence follows. Take a moment to pause and reflect on how hard you’ve worked to acquire just one of the skills you use in your career. Let me know in the comments - I'm keen to hear your story, whatever your career and skillset! #doctors #learning #career #experience #healthcare #skills #practice

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UK, ENGLAND, GREAT BRITAIN. Some people and indeed all over the world, including well travelled, often confuse England, United Kingdom and Great Britain. England is a country just like Nigeria and its capital is London just like Abuja is the capital of Nigeria. Great Britain is a collection of 3 countries which came together as one country and has its capital as London. Those 3 countries are: 1. England, 2. Scotland 3. Wales. When you include Northern Ireland to these 3 countries, they become United Kingdom (Union of four nations) 1. England, 2. Scotland, 3. Wales, and 4. Northern Ireland. That is why it is referred to as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Collectively, the four are taken as one country. And when this is the case, London is its capital. Note however that these four individual nations all have their own respective capitals. Accordingly, the capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, Wales is Cardiff; Northern Ireland is Belfast. England is London. Class dismissed🎊🎊🎊 If you learn something here, appreciate by 👍 #scotland #wales #northernireland #england #UnitedKingdom Follow & Share

It is no longer news that Bolu is a divorced lady of almost 6 years, raising two amazing children all alone. No, this post is not just about divorce, nor is it for sympathy or to pity me. And yes, I need prayers, I want it but please don't comment on this post sympathetically like say the worse thing that could ever happen to anyone in this life had happened to me. Don't drop pity comment! Okay Now, let's go... Keep reading... When I left my marriage that year I was practically a broken woman who has lost all she had, her businesses, including herself to the marriage and started life all over in a new environment without even a house of her own, I was squatting with a friends along with my kids. I was living in a shadow of myself so confused didn't have money to start a business and my certificate wasn't ready for me to even think of starting a salary job so I was just left as I was. The journey wasn't easy. There were times when I felt like giving up when it seemed like nothing was working. But I refused to let fear and doubt hold me back. Instead, I used that time to focus on my personal growth, to learn new skills, and to refine my craft. I invested in myself, and it paid off in ways I never imagined. Today, I'm proud to say that my brand is thriving. I've built a loyal community, worked with amazing clients, and I get to help people like you build their brands and businesses! If you're feeling stuck or uncertain about your journey, I want you to know that you're not alone. Growth is a process, and it's okay to take your time. So, here's the deal: 📌 Focus on personal growth: Invest in yourself, learn new skills, and refine your craft. 📌Brand yourself like a BOSS! 📌Identify your sauce, package it well! 📌Create a pricing strategy that makes you go. 📌Network, collaborate! 📌 Take calculated risks: Sometimes, you need to take a leap of faith to achieve your goals. Skills don't waste; make a business out of them and live the life that you deserve. If I did it, you can too! What's one area in your life where you're feeling stuck or uncertain? Irene Emefa Carbonu
*Can my mum's marriage be illegal* Auntie Emefa, my Dad and my Mum have been married for almost 23 years. My Dad had other children before marrying my mum. My Dad died a year ago. My Dad Willed his house to my Mum and I. This has generated a big conflict between my step siblings, my mum and I. My step siblings have challenged the will and also, they say since their mother and my Dad were never divorced thus my mother's marriage to my Dad was illegal because that marriage was by ordinance. I sent a detailed answer to the sender but I will answer the last question briefly. Simply put, we have different forms of marriages in Ghana that's the customary marriage, marriage by ordinance (monogamous marriage) and Islamic marriage. They all have their procedures and legal implications but I will speak briefly on the customary marriage and the marriage by ordinance that is the monogamous marriage. Customary marriage Customary marriage is a marriage based on the traditions and practices of a tribe or clan, which we normally call Engagement 💍. This is an official and legal binding marriage between a man and a woman based on the tradition of the woman. This marriage can be registered with the Registrar of Marriages but the status doesn't change. Any man married under this system can marry more women. Marriage by Ordinance This is what we term as one man one woman - monogamous marriage. If one is married under this system one cannot marry any other woman or man again unless that person is legally divorced. So if you marry under ordinance, you cannot marry any other person by custom or ordinance again. Anyone who flouts this law can be criminally liable. The answer above has more other legal implications but in brief, your step siblings can challenge your mother's marriage to your father if he was not divorced from his first marriage thus your mother's marriage to your Dad can be null and void. You can rebut this answer by using the number of years your father was separated from his first wife and other factors like death, etc to prove the legitimacy of their marriage. You can send me a message for further discussion 🙂

📢 Tackling Pharmacy's Ethnicity Pay Gap – Time for Action? In the pharmacy sector, the ethnicity pay gap remains a persistent issue, with limited progress over the years. Despite industry-wide awareness, data reveals that Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) pharmacy professionals still experience lower average earnings compared to their white counterparts. This gap highlights systemic barriers and underscores an urgent need for actionable strategies. 📝 Why is this gap stubbornly unchanged? Lack of transparency: Without mandatory reporting, many employers lack visibility into their own pay disparities. Barriers to progression: BAME professionals encounter obstacles to promotion, resulting in limited representation at senior levels. Need for targeted support: Mentorship and leadership development tailored to underrepresented groups can drive real change. 👩🏽⚕️ How can we fix this? Mandate ethnicity pay gap reporting to enhance accountability. Strengthen mentorship and ensure equal access to advancement opportunities. Foster inclusivity in leadership by promoting diversity in executive roles. It’s time for all stakeholders to work together to bridge this gap and build a fairer, more equitable pharmacy workforce. Let’s push for transparency, diversity, and opportunities for everyone to thrive! You get Oxford and then you get Africa. The one speaks to your intellect, the other to your soul. The only way you get to understand Africa, is to listen with your heart. When Oxford says, Darkest Africa. Africa whispers, however long the night, the dawn will break. When Oxford says, learn from your mistakes, Africa whispers, to get lost is to learn the way. When Oxford says, look before you leap, Africa whispers, only a fool tests the depth of a river with both feet. When Oxford says, stop talking, start acting. Africa whispers, a roaring lion kills no game. When Oxford says, ask and you will receive. Africa whispers, a child that does not cry will die in the carrier. When Oxford says, all contributions are valuable, Africa whispers, birds sing, not because they have answers, but because they have songs. When Oxford says, you cannot change a person, Africa whispers, rain beats the leopard’s skin, but it does not wash out the spots. When Oxford says, you matter, Africa whispers, the sun does not forget a village just because it's small. Africa is not a place you visit, It is a place where you find yourself. A dictionary gives meaning to words; Africa gives meaning to you. If you want to learn about Africa, pick up the dictionary; If you want to get to know yourself, inhale Africa. Robert Elliot once said, if you only visit two continents in your lifetime, visit Africa twice! #africa #whoweare #soulfood

5 Things you should never say to your children as Nigerian Parents 1. Do you know what I have been through in this life? 2. When I was young, like your age, I used to carry first position in my class 3. Your mates have gone to their husband’s house, you are busy dragging your feet. Better go and find person to marry 4. Your mates are in University and have passed JAMB, you are still writing JAMB for the 7th time. 5. I did not kee my father so you self cannot kee me ….. Emotion management varies for both children and adults, yet our experiences can be similar. Children experience emotions just as adults. Your children are not deserving of a traumatic experience because your parents went that route. You can do better. Even in the sports of tennis, you have to prepare for what your opponent serves you. To be a good parent, you also have to prepare for it - in terms of what you say to your children and how you make them feel, heard, seen and look. If Parenting is a skill that should be taught, which school would you recommend to get that degree. #parenting #trauma #mentalhealth #childrenemotions #TommyandtheLittleSeed #growth

My friend and comrade Oliver M. Barker-Vormawor was arrested for organising a three-day protest against illegal mining in Ghana. Actually Oliver turned himself in. He had been at the forefront of a 3-day protest in #Ghana against ''Galamsey'' (see this: https://lnkd.in/dzw48gUw), misgovernance and corruption. The police arrested and locked up protesters then said they won’t grant any of the protesters bail unless Oliver turns himself in. So like the true humanist he is, Oliver offered to turn himself in just so his comrades can get bail. Yesterday, he was rushed to hospital to receive urgent medical care. His legal team says he did not receive timely medical attention from the police after he told them he was “seriously ill” on Tuesday. Today, a court agreed to the State's demand to remand Oliver and other protesters in custody with bail denied. Some protesters remain unaccounted for. Civil Society members have requested the police provide a complete list of all detained protesters and their locations, but after more than five days, the police have refused. According to Ghana's constitution, arrested individuals must be presented to a court within 48 hours. The police have egregiously violated this right, producing some detainees three, four, or five days later, with no accountability. The courts do not reprimand the police for these violations. It's a bleak picture. Not just in Ghana but increasingly in many African countries. And it is getting worse. The condition of so-called democratically elected leaders in Africa is alarming. Despite claiming to be democratic, these governments employ autocratic tactics that threaten freedoms and rights. In Kenya, hundreds remain missing; in Nigeria, many face treason charges simply for protesting. Cameroon has implemented stringent laws to stifle dissent so much so that people don't even think of protesting. Across these nations, authorities use violence and thuggery to suppress protests. And the worst of it all? It is not surprising that worse is coming. We must critically assess the state of democracy in Africa, focusing on true substance rather than mere appearances. We must address not only threats to civil liberties but also demand that democracy yields tangible social and economic benefits, which is currently lacking in our countries. Above all, the media - local media - must continue to do the job of being the fourth estate of the realm, even through the risks. Every nation has its problems, and the repression means so many are marked, targeted, hunted into leaving their beloved homelands. But it'll get worse if the best of us keep leaving and the worst of us keep leading. For Oliver and the many facing untold injustice: aluta continua. https://lnkd.in/dwCvA9XU
