Low-Hanging Fruit🍇 I often emphasise the importance of using your CRM as a central source of truth across your business's many functions. But what immediate benefits can you actually realise, or how can you program your CRM to assist with them? In this episode of "All About CRM," David Connolly and I talk about CRM essentials. We clarify the differences between an ATS, a CRM, and a Database - terms that are surprisingly still used interchangeably - and, of course, we discuss the benefits. As you plan for 2025, take the time to clearly define your pain points. Then, look to your CRM to address them. You might be surprised at how much heavy lifting a well-structured, central system can do. 📺 🔊 Link in comments #AllAboutCRM #BusinessStrategy #SystemStrategy #CRM

Sales Performance Appraisals... what are they really achieving? 🤔 According to a LinkedIn report, 69% of organisations believe effective performance management is crucial, yet many still struggle to implement it effectively. Here's why: 🔺 Feedback is infrequent and often delayed. 🔺 Assessments aren't grounded in data. 🔺 Objective performance measurement is lacking. 🔺 There's a disconnect between evaluations and actual job demands. And that's just scratching the surface! In recruitment, which is essentially sales at its core, strong interpersonal skills are key. It's about engaging candidates, pitching them to employers, and closing deals by catering to the needs of both sides. Without a structured performance management approach, any 'Appraisal' meeting becomes pointless. In this episode of "All About CRM," Mike Whatman and I dive into all things sales and highlight the crucial role DATA plays - data that lives OR should live in your recruitment CRM. 🔊📺 Link in comments!! #CRMStrategy #CRMAdoption #PerformanceManagement #Data

🤶 December: Let's Make It the Month of Data! ℹ️ As we reflect on the year that was and plan for the year ahead, data takes center stage in various forms. As Jamie Hart aptly puts it, data is also your destiny. 😉 In this episode of "All Things CRM," we discuss how true data literacy can only be achieved when the culture surrounding data is addressed. You can't be 'data-driven' or 'lead with data' if the existing culture rewards poor behavior and places the lowest priority on data. If things stay consistently hard, it becomes hard to stay consistent. This occurred to me while I was at the gym admiring myself 😜 and how far I had come in both my technique and weight lifting capacity (slightly showing off here). What had seemed so hard before has now become much, much easier. Anyway, as I am forever thinking about data, processes, CRM, all and any systems (you can pity me or admire my commitment here) it made me think why this is key to adoption - not carrot v stick, not the endless incentives - but a strategic view with simplicity and logic at the heart of the system design. If instead of 10 tech platforms, we have a simplified stack of three, and if the direction is clear and makes sense, then systems won’t be constantly changed or added haphazardly. The seemingly hard change becomes easier with use and time. So as you rethink your business, your systems, think strategically, think long term, think sustainable. It may take longer, it may seem harder, but it will become simpler! And everyone will be lifting heavy weights and become lean, mean machines 😂 Reach out for a complimentary consultation on all things data, process, CRM, and all systems. #datastrategy #businessstrategy #leanoperations #CRM

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to co-host a March Women - Women in M&A roundtable session on Data & AI with Emily MacDonald and Samra Nechadi at Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP. With a room full of M&A and legal professionals, our conversation quickly turned to critical topics such as risk, bias, policy, and regulation. Over the past 12 months, I have found it fascinating to compare the investment and marketing of the SaaS platforms with the voice of the customer across various industries - businesses that are or will incorporate AI into their operations. While there is some level of experimentation happening at an individual or small team level, the general sentiment seems to be one of waiting and watching, letting the larger companies navigate the risks and scrutiny, effectively dictating the way forward. From my perspective, this cautious approach may seem sensible, but it's important to remember that risk and opportunity are two sides of the same coin. By the time risks have diminished, the opportunity to innovate, challenge the status quo, and reap rewards may have passed. AI models are fundamentally underpinned by data and automation, so it’s crucial to start there and think holistically - silos are the enemy. Historically, regulation and policy have always been reactive, lagging behind technological advancements. As Alison Berryman pointed out with her decades of experience in this field, this trend is unlikely to change. Therefore, our choices may ultimately come down to common sense and ethics. If something seems unethical, chances are it is! If you want your organisation to be 'ready' in 12 months, remember that investment in education and strategy starts now. #Datastrategy #AI #Businesstrategy #Businessoperations

LLMs are not fact engines. LLMs generate plausible answers without any view as to what is true. LLMs also lack explainability. Take a look at this recent research by Gartner (link in comments) covering LLMs, Data Quality, and the current limitations of Automation. In my world, I am seeing a huge demand for Automation BUT what I am also seeing is an implementation of Automation WITHOUT consideration. Basically, if you are creating or automating a process, and doing so without taking all and any dependencies into account, it is bound to result in inaccuracies, creating DQ chaos. Which brings me to another point from this report: 👉 Automation Complacency - when users start to trust the output from automation to such a degree that they stop noticing errors 👉 Automation Bias - refers to the tendency to trust the output of automation over a user’s own judgment Human oversight, which involves the right skillsets, dedicated resources, and organisation governance (a.k.a data behaviour and rules) is required and will continue to be required in the near future. Poor data quality costs organisations at least $12.9 million a year on average. Personally, I think that is conservative given the amount of waste that indirectly occurs due to trying to make up for the poor quality. If there is one thing you add to your 2025 agenda, add Data Strategy. Define what data points are important, how data will move from one point or system to another, how will you mandate it, when will you validate it, and who will be responsible/accountable, and what will you do with it? #datastrategy #datafoundations #ai #automation
