YBDSA also has 'Associates'' who are professionals within the marine industry such as lawyers and insurers, and these are listed on our websites. The YDSA does not provide entry-level training for designers or surveyors, but is developing a training programme to assist members to maintain their professional knowledge and expertise. The ABYA Yacht Brokerage course is ideal for those wishing to become brokers, recently started working as a broker or to provide a "refresher" for experienced brokers.

On Wednesday 31st January, ABYA Regulatory Chairman Peter Norris, along with the Rt Hon Kelly Tolhurst, met with Baroness Charlotte Vere, Treasury Minister to the Lords. WHY? The meeting was to address the concerns surrounding HSBC's decision to close Yacht Brokers Pooled Clients Accounts (PCAs). THE RESULT: Peter Norris expressed positivity about the Treasury's acknowledgment of ABYA’s frustration with HSBC's reluctance to engage. Baroness Vere committed to writing to Ian Stuart, CEO of HSBC UK, urging prompt engagement with ABYA to agree a solution. She also confirmed her approval of the Treasury's consultation documents on Pooled Clients Accounts which are expected to be published in the coming weeks. #yachtbroker #ukbanks #houseoflords
