The Guardian spoke with our Chief Medical Officer, James Kinross, here's 5 surprising things he said: 1️⃣ Kissing is great for our microbiome! We transfer around 80 million bacteria when we kiss someone, which is great for the biodiversity of our oral microbiome. So, get smooching! 2️⃣ The colon holds 100 trillion microbes That’s around the same total number of cells in the human body. With this, the average person will have around 500 species of bacteria in their gut working hard to keep things running smoothly. 3️⃣ Every day, half the globe takes medication ...and a lot of this is antibiotics! This medication is vital to modern-day medicine but has actually had a dramatic effect on our microbiome. 4️⃣ Our microbiome is passed to us by our parents Our microbiome is generational, meaning that what happens to ours will impact the future generation’s microbiome biodiversity. If treated poorly, we could be ‘eroding’ our biodiversity. 5️⃣ We're not getting enough fibre Londoners are getting, on average, 10-15g of fibre a day, increasing their risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, diverticulosis and bowel cancer. We should all be aiming for 30g of fibre a day to keep our bugs healthy. Know any jaw-dropping gut health facts? Drop them in the comments!

The 'Fine to Flush' accreditation is getting axed in March 2024 🫢 Millions of consumers seeking to take better care below the waist put their trust in the certification, co-created by Water UK and Water Research Centre (WRc,) and widely adopted by wipe manufacturers. But as fatbergs and sewer blockages kept piling up, costing water companies £100 million every year, doubts started creeping in. Water UK has taken a brave step by discontinuing the certification, switching the Fine to Flush campaign to ‘Bin the Wipe’. This is a huge step in recognising that ‘out of sight’ is simply not ‘out of mind’ when it comes to our toilets, and certainly our waterways. What will happen next? Well, we will have to wait and see. Keep an eye out for the shelves of your favourite supermarket this March, to see how the industry is responding to this change. As for Wype, we have been fighting fatbergs since 2020, our founders Giorgia and Eli even brought one with them to their Dragons Den pitch! Wype was born to provide a convenient and soothing clean that doesn’t harm the planet, and we have already kept over 50 million wipes out of the waterways. What do you think of the end of Fine to Flush? #sustainability #finetoflush #binthewipe
