Increasing the number and diversity of women in leadership roles in PR and communications
About us
The PR & communications industry is female dominated (67%) overall. However, at senior levels it becomes male dominated with only a third of boardroom positions taken by women. Women in PR exists to address this imbalance. Our mission is to improve equality and diversity across the industry by increasing the number and diversity of women in leadership roles.

Our panelists, Claire Quansah, Alison Last, and Anika Mistry, shared invaluable advice on navigating work-life balance, embracing change, and building resilience. 💫 Key takeaways: 🔹 Prioritise Mental Health: Remember to "put your own oxygen mask on first." 🔹Embrace Flexibility: Focus on outcomes, not rigid schedules. 🔹Support Equal Parental Leave: Advocate for policies that benefit all parents. 🔹Build Resilience: Adapt to a rapidly changing industry. 🔹Seek Support: Don't hesitate to ask for help and celebrate achievements. We’re proud to have been part of a steering group, led by PR Mums, to push for better industry standards for parental policy and rights. As part of this work, PR Mums has released a White Paper that consolidates their research into the current state of parental policy in the PR industry. Our committee member, Angela Balakrishnan, is featured in the report and notes that: "Being a parent should not mean sacrificing your professional growth. But, depressingly, women in our industry are the hardest hit by their family choices. Research shows that 80% of the gender pay gap is down to the motherhood penalty. Let’s put that into real terms: a woman you know is being devalued in the workplace because she decided to have children." Please do read and share this important report - link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eaTrsUkY #Womeninpr #genderpaygap #motherhoodpenalty #womensupportingwomen

A recent study by HR consultancy Hoomph revealed that nearly three quarters (70%) of women feel unsupported by their employers during menopause. Ways that companies can support their employees include: Speaking to employees to understand how it impacts their work and what support they need. Having a network or support group for employees to engage in open conversations. Offering adjustments and resources so employees feel supported.
