    One of my pet peeves in recruitment is the below conversation: Me: Sends Message Candidate: "what's the salary?" Me: "£70-100k Base + c. 10% Bonus." Candidate: "Not enough." Me: "So I know for future reference what does it need to be to make sense?" Candidate: ................... Just respond saying I need X to move, it means I can put you in that folder when roles do come up & not contact you with irrelevant stuff again and if it's close e.g. £110k I can ask the client to stretch the budget. #recruitmentetiquette #fintechrecruitment #salarynegotiation

    Bit of personal news, but massive shout out to my partner Claire Steggles who recently passed her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling meaning she can begin practicing. This is the culmination of 4 years of college work, 100+ hours of client work doing great stuff with Kairos Community Centre clients in South London and she completed the toughest final year whilst pregnant / mum to a newborn. I think had we both known how tough the last few months were going to be with a little one, we would have deferred a year. But it makes it all the more of an accomplishment now it's all done.     A couple of roles in today that would suit candidates in my network with 0-2 years of professional experience and a solid STEM Degree. • Client Services Analyst - up to £40k, 4 days in-office during training, 2 days thereafter. Quantitative Software so strong numeracy & Excel skills needed as will be dealing with questions on models/analytics. Mature firm. • Quantitative Risk Analyst - £40-60k, 2+ days in office.     In response to my post about how astronomical NY salaries are at the moment, someone reached out to me who is a British E2 Visa Sponsor in the US. This means Brits who know they can get a role in the US – maybe working for an ex-colleague or business, but just can’t get sponsored can get a Visa through him. He would then run you as a contractor on-site at the client and take a margin. He also saw this as a way for US companies to hire cheaper labour (paying a Brit their UK equivalent salary or slightly more) to move over to the US. Not as sure how I feel about that, as being paid below market is never ideal but it was an interesting conversation.
