Great to be in Parliament today with Humber Energy Board, talking to MPs and interested parties about the impact decarbonising the #Humber can have on the UK’s #NetZero goals. Great to hear Sarah Jones, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Minister giving support for #VikingCCS yesterday - speaking at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association Conference, she discussed how #CCS can support UK sustainability and energy security targets. But Viking CCS will also have a large positive impact on inward investment, jobs, skills and overall prosperity in the Humber region. It has been estimated that decarbonising industries in the Humber provides a route to safeguard over 20,000 jobs. We welcome progress on Track 1 and today's announcement is an important step towards making #CCS at scale a reality in the UK. The Government now needs to accelerate Track 2 so that projects like #VikingCCS can make a full and meaningful contribution to the UK’s emissions reduction targets.
