  • Unpopular opinion: Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) is a vastly misunderstood concept. People often think it’s either a joke or just a tool for incident response, similar to VirusTotal or Shodan. But I’d like to offer a different perspective. At Unit6, we prefer the term Global Cyber Intelligence (GCI) and view it as the digital twin of the traditional intelligence community. The primary role of a cyber intelligence professional or vendor is to provide high-quality, timely intelligence to decision-makers. Just like national intelligence agencies collect, analyze, and produce actionable intelligence for their country’s leaders, cyber intelligence vendors must do the same for their clients' leadership. It’s time to redefine cyber intelligence. Here’s what it’s not: 1. Producing daily reports filled with irrelevant information for the sake of reporting. 2. Sending every IP address that scans your network to VirusTotal or UrlScan. 3. Reading every blog post or tracking every report from Google, IBM, or other sources. 4. Scouring the dark web and Telegram for company names. Instead, cyber intelligence is about cultivating the right access and applying the right analytical layer to make sense of that information. Right access means first-hand access to threat actors. With this access and proper analysis, you can start answering crucial questions: Who is targeting your organization? What are they planning? When will this happen? How will they attempt to breach your defenses? This is the true value that CTI or GCI should provide. Open-source information can be extremely useful, but it must be handled with care to avoid the misinformation that often circulates. I’m eager to hear your thoughts and discuss how Unit6 delivers the "right access" to empower decision-makers with precise and timely intelligence. Let’s elevate the conversation around cyber intelligence and redefine its role in modern cybersecurity! #Unit6Technologies #CyberSecurity #CyberThreatIntelligence #GlobalCyberIntelligence

  • Unit6 Technologies is thrilled to announce the appointment of LtGen, USMC (ret) Jon Davis, Tim Kosiba and Prof Jordan Giddings to our Board of Advisors. Their extensive experience and expertise will be invaluable as we embark on our mission to reinvent cyber threat intelligence.   Threat intelligence is broken. After years in the cybersecurity industry, we have decided it’s time to fix it and build a company that can make a real difference — build a cyber intelligence solution that delivers predictive and tailored intelligence that enables security teams focus on the real risks.   At Unit6 Technologies, our mission is to provide unparalleled threat intelligence solutions that empower organizations to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats. With our slogan, Predict. Preempt. Prevent., as our guide, we are dedicated to transforming security operations through predictive intelligence.   The addition of LtGen, USMC (ret) Jon Davis, Tim Kosiba and Prof Jordan Giddings to our Board of Advisors will enhance our strategic capabilities, leveraging their extensive experience in cybersecurity and business operations to bolster our mission and deliver the highest level of expertise to our clients.   Please join us in welcoming LtGen, USMC (ret) Jon Davis, Tim Kosiba and Prof Jordan Giddings to our team as we continue to drive innovation and excellence in cyber intelligence and security.   https://lnkd.in/dY2CewbA

  • Not all intelligence is helpful…much less valuable. What is valuable intelligence? Let’s start with what it’s not. It’s not about reading articles and sending that information to other teams. It’s not about copying and pasting a malware or campaign technical breakdown and calling it a “report,” and it’s not about sending a bunch of IOCs (Indicators of Compromise). Valuable intelligence is accurate, relevant and actionable. It allows defenders or decision-makers to identify threats as in their incipient phase - before they become true threats - prioritize them as to the damage they can do to us - allowing us to take effective preemptive actions and prevent the attack from occurring. For example, actionable intelligence means telling a company they have 20 compromised corporate accounts with valid credentials and/or cookies. It's alerting a company that Threat Actor A is in the early stages of a campaign targeting a vulnerable publicly facing instance. But actionable is just one piece of the puzzle. Other crucial factors include: Timeliness: Detecting incidents at the time they occur, not a year later. Accuracy and Relevance: Intelligence must be precise and directly applicable to your organization. If the threat actor doesn’t target you, it’s irrelevant and a waste of time. Combining these elements creates truly valuable intelligence. However, most vendors focus on pushing malware hashes and other IOCs observed in the wild and producing reports on phishing campaigns in specific regions. While interesting, this information is not the most valuable. That’s why we created Unit6 Technologies. We focus on delivering quality information combined with relevant, actionable intelligence within a timeframe that enables leaders to make informed decisions - to predict, preempt and prevent. This approach fills many gaps in today’s cybersecurity solutions, providing peace of mind that is rare in the current landscape. Choose a solution that combines all necessary attributes for decision-making, while enabling timely and effective actions. At Unit6, we are committed to redefining cyber intelligence - and delivering our customers truly valuable intelligence. What you don't know can hurt you! What you do know can save you! #Unit6Technologies #CyberSecurity #CyberIntelligence

"I am excited to join Unit6 Technologies as we redefine what it means to be leaders in cyber threat intelligence," said Chris Kubecka. "I look forward to enabling our clients to predict attacks, prevent them instead of just reacting and constantly putting out fires." Chris has an impressive track record. Her team was instrumental in recovering Saudi Aramco and Aramco Overseas after the Shamoon attacks, as the Head of the Information Protection Group and Joint International Intelligence Team. Chris has managed numerous high-level, life-threatening intelligence incidents, demonstrating her unparalleled expertise in areas such as pirate activity, nuclear cyber incidents, cyber-terrorism, tracking illicit arms and human trafficking. • Security is Difficult. Protecting countless servers, endpoints and applications is difficult. In today's world, your digital infrastructure is the bedrock for your business operations. Attackers are becoming more sophisticated and emboldened to conduct attacks at unprecedented frequency and scale. Addressing the inevitability of those scenarios is a massive undertaking, and while there are several security products currently on the market, as evidenced by the magnitude of successful breaches, there is a significant gap in the actual security that they’re capable of providing. In sum, there is a significant gap in what technology is purported to exist versus what capabilities are legitimately being fielded to protect the enterprise. There’s something missing. That something, is intelligence. Quality intelligence is the key to secure operations. Quality intelligence provides you with unique insights into your adversary. Whether your adversary is a hacktivist group, organized crime or a nation-state. Accurate intelligence is the key to preempt or minimize any potential damage to your infrastructure, business operations, employees and reputation. There are dozens of intelligence products and capabilities on the market; however, all of them are missing three key elements to be effective. 1. Persistent access to attackers' infrastructure and internal communications. 2. Robust analytical infrastructure to fuse, understand and action intelligence in real-time. 3. Ability to work together. An ecosystem instead of a product. A centralized source of truth that can seamlessly integrate and enrich other tools. Now and in the future. Our solutions collect and process information from the entire digital landscape. From protecting organizations against script kiddies and hacktivist groups to nation-state attackers and organized crime, and every threat in between. #Unit6tech #Cyberintelligence #Cybersecurity #ProactiveProtection #IntelligenceDrivenSecurity

  • Introducing Unit6 - Intelligence Driven Security. Changing the game from Reactive to Proactive. The company may be new, but the legacy is a decade-old. At Unit6 we have a saying - "You can collect huge amounts of data, but if it's not the right data, it won’t help you."
