Really interesting piece by Anne-Marie Graham from UKCISA on how we measure, monitor and prioritise international student experience. Word of mouth is incredibly important in our student communities, and it's critical that we deliver on what we know our students expect around living, studying and working in the UK.

If you know anyone who sadly knows what it is like to go through the experience of a bereavement while studying in the UK and would be willing to share their story, please do point them in this direction 👇
Founder of The Student Grief Network and Executive Head of Kaplan International Grief Programmes. Softening the impact of bereavement in universities and beyond.
What's it like to be bereaved as an international student? I know from my own conversations with students that dealing with a death many miles from home, in an unfamiliar place, can make a difficult time even more complicated. Nivaetha's dissertation explores the experiences and support needs of bereaved undergraduate international students in UK universities. Please spread the word if you know anyone who may be able to help with an interview - it will help improve understanding in this area, and may well be cathartic for students to share their story! Nivaetha has personal experience in this area and the research is approved and supported by supervisors at the University of Glasgow. Criteria: • Undergraduate international student enrolled in a UK university • Aged 18 years or older • Have experienced bereavement (loss of loved one) at least one year ago • Fluent in conversational English Participants will be provided with a £10 Love2shop voucher to say thank you. If you are interested, please email Nivaetha at [email protected] 📩

With our recent announcement of a new cohort of #WeAreInternational Student Ambassadors joining us in the new year, we'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our outgoing cohort of ambassadors 🥰 Over the past several years, our ambassadors have gone above and beyond to represent international students here in the UK, ensure that their voices are heard, and share their experiences so that they may have the best possible experience. It's been a privilege to have been joined by these exceptional individuals, and we wish them all the best with their future success. They will always be a part of the UKCISA and #WeAreInternational family.

As I pen these words, my heart swells with emotion, for my journey as a WeAreInternational Student Ambassador is drawing to a close. Anne-Marie Graham Yinbo Yu and the rest incredible UKCISA team, you've given me an experience that has utterly transformed my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful. From the moment I joined, I knew I was part of something special. This wasn't just a role; it was a calling. UKCISA embraced me, nurturing my potential and standing by me through thick and thin. In my darkest hours, when doubts loomed large, it was this extraordinary team that lifted me up, helping me see the world from a different, more expansive perspective. I've never encountered a group quite like the UKCISA family. Their unwavering dedication, their infectious passion, and their genuine care for international students are truly unmatched. They've been more than colleagues; they've been my guiding lights, my confidants, and my friends. Together, we've laughed, we've strategized, and we've worked tirelessly to make the UK a more welcoming place for overseas students. UKCISA hasn't just shaped my present; it has moulded my future. The values I've absorbed, the insights I've gained, and the friendships I've forged will forever be a part of me, influencing every step of my journey ahead. This experience has become the cornerstone of who I am and who I aspire to be. To the incoming ambassadors, I say this: prepare for an adventure that will challenge you, inspire you, and ultimately transform you. You're joining a legacy of change-makers and visionaries. I have no doubt that you will continue to build on our strengths, carrying forward the #WeAreInternational spirit with renewed vigour and fresh perspectives. As I look to the future, I'm filled with optimism. I know that this programme, with its new cohort of brilliant ambassadors, will continue to shape UK #internationaleducation. You will be at the forefront of making the UK not just a destination for study, but a second home for students from across the globe. Saying goodbye is never easy, but I leave with a heart overflowing with gratitude, cherished memories, and excitement for what lies ahead. Thank you, UKCISA, for two unforgettable years. Your work truly changes lives, and I am profoundly honoured to have been a part of this mission. The #WeAreInternational journey doesn't end here - it's a torch I'll carry with me always, illuminating my path and inspiring me to continue making a difference in the world of international education. #WeAreInternational #UKCISA #InternationalEducation #HigherEducation #UKHigherEducation #UniversitiesUK #Policy #Gratitude Robert Young Deepa Chadha Ross Porter MCMI Sam Jones Anne Salter Heather Knight Christopher Benjamin David Mitchell-Baker Lord Karan Bilimoria Will Burton Iona Murdoch Tom D.
