I would like to thank all those involved in last nights #AfricanEarlyStageInvestorAward for such a generous and thoughtful recognition of my journey in Africa’s early-stage investment ecosystem. It has truly been a privilege to collaborate with so many passionate individuals and organizations who share a vision for a thriving, innovative Africa.
While I deeply appreciate this acknowledgment, I am constantly reminded that the real heroes are the #founders who dare to dream and the other #angelinvestors who believe in those dreams. They are the ones who build and sustain the bridge between ideas and impact, creating pathways that transform our continent.
This journey has taught me that no one succeeds alone. It’s the strength of our collective effort—whether through Lagos Angel Network, VC4A, #AESIS ABAN, #GBAN, or recent initiatives like the #AnambraAngelNetwork — that drives the change we all wish to see. My role has been to connect, empower, and inspire, but the ecosystem’s success belongs to all of us who have chosen to be part of this movement.
To all the winners celebrated yesterday, congratulations on your remarkable achievements! Together, we’re not just investing in startups; we’re investing in Africa’s future—one that holds promise for generations to come.
Let’s keep building, innovating, and making a difference.

Who’s been a cornerstone in building and sustaining Africa’s early-stage investment ecosystem for over a decade? Harry 'Tomi Davies (TD) is!
As the Collaborator-in-Chief at TVCLabs Labs in Lagos, which he founded, TD has played a pivotal role in empowering angel networks across Africa. He co-founded Zeitec, an investment firm focused on venture capital assets in Africa, and is the founding President of ABAN. TD’s dedication extends to his board role at the Global Business Angel Network (GBAN) and his continuous efforts to lead initiatives like the Anambra Angel Network.
His influence goes beyond networking; through Founders TVCLabs, TD actively supports African founders, helping them raise capital, scale sustainably, and achieve product-market fit. As a thought leader, TD has shared his insights globally through publications, masterclasses, and keynotes on cross-border expansion, sustainable growth, and startup scaling.
Congratulations, TD, on receiving the Big Five Award 2024 for your visionary leadership and tireless contributions to Africa’s investment ecosystem!
And congratulations to all the winners who received awards in the various categories yesterday! Your exceptional dedication is transforming the future of investment in Africa and #ImpactingPathways in the continent!
