Coaching young people to gain the confidence, independence and skills they need for a better & brighter future
About us
ThinkForward exists to support young people to create better and brighter futures. We want them to be able to identify, realise and shape their aspirations and be ready to make a successful transition into work. Young people experiencing barriers such as challenging relationships, living in low-income households, or growing up in areas with a lack of access to opportunities can be confronted with hurdles. Without the right support these can lead to high risks of unemployment and long-term effects on their career and life chances. There are more than 800,000 16-24-year olds in the UK who aren’t at school or college, or don’t have a job or training place. Our ambition is to prevent young people becoming one of these statistics. We run three programmes that support young people to gain the independence, skills and confidence they need to make a successful transition into work. The FutureMe programme provides five years of personalised coaching and employability activities to get young people ready for the world of work. Coaches build trusted relationships, empowering young people to take control, find solutions to challenges, develop skills and create a positive vision for their future. Specialised ready for work activities support young people to get familiar with the workplace, become inspired and identify a pathway to their chosen career. The Making Strides programme works in London and the West Midlands with young people who have mild to moderate learning disabilities with the aim of supporting them into paid employment. Our Future Leaders programme supports young black students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion to transition into positive post-16 destinations. Coaches provide long-term support to prepare young people for sustainable paid employment. Young people take part in insight visits, work placements and business mentoring to build their experience and develop skills and capabilities.

Do you believe every young person should have the right to equal opportunities, quality education and fair employment? You can stand with us today to help make this a reality. In the UK, the inequality gap is real. Currently, only 56% of all young people from underserved communities leave school with their next step identified, compared with 83% of their better-off peers. ThinkForward delivers unique, personalised coaching for underserved young people to overcome the challenges they face and make a successful transition into work. 80% of young people on our programmes successfully transition into further education or employment. This year we are taking part in the Big Give #ChristmasChallenge24. For one week only, every donation made through this link will be doubled: https://bit.ly/TFBigGive24 Join us in helping young people move towards better and #BrighterFutures and help us close the inequality gap. The campaign closes on 10th December 2024. #BigGive #inequality #youthemployment

ThinkForward is delighted to begin a new partnership with the SWAROVSKI Foundation. We are grateful for their funding which will support us to work with young people from global majority backgrounds in London who are at risk of being excluded from mainstream school. We will be providing young people with one-to-one coaching, work insight days and transition workshops to support them in developing their work-readiness skills and making a successful transition to a positive post-16 destination. We started this partnership with an insight day at the Swarovski London office. Volunteers from Swarovski, Tyrolit Group and the Swarovski Foundation came together to provide a group of young people with valuable insights into the world of work. Ehtesham, young person, said, “I enjoyed today and getting an insight into Swarovski. My biggest learning was that you can set a goal and go multiple different ways to get there.” Thank you Swarovski Foundation for supporting ThinkForward with our mission to equip the next generation for brighter futures. #SwarovskiFoundation #youthemployment #InternationalVolunteerDay

🎉Today, we are celebrating #InternationalVolunteerDay. We would like to take this opportunity to recognise all the incredible volunteers who have interacted with young people on our programmes over the past year. 💡Whether it is by hosting an insight day or taking part in business mentoring, volunteers play a crucial role in the delivery of our programmes. 💼Interactions with volunteers form part of the Ready For Work activities that we offer young people. These interactions can include mock interviews, CV checks and career panels, and we know that they directly contribute to positive outcomes for young people on our programmes. Here is what some young people had to say: 🗣️“My experience on business mentoring was really good, because the mentors, they showed you what it's like to have a daily life in an actual office… It doesn't seem too bad, to be honest.” 🗣️“My business mentor was amazing. Speaking to her and hearing what she’s done in her past and hearing how she got the job she got was a highlight.” 🗣️“My favourite part was practising the interviews… We went around the mentors and they asked us questions that an employer would ask. They gave us feedback on where you could, what you did well and what you could continue.” ✨A MASSIVE thank you to all the volunteers who have shared their time and knowledge so generously with our young people. #Volunteers #ReadyForWork #ThinkForward #BusinessMentoring #CareerInsight

💡Last week, a group of young people from Kent visited Chatham Maritime Trust (Kent) 🚤Attendees heard from CMT staff who talked about their career journeys and explained different projects on the estate. They took a tour of the marina and were then tasked with creating a poster to explain why people should visit the trust. Here’s what one young person wrote: 📢“It is a lovely place to go and walk around if people are interested in boats, shopping, cinema and restaurants, as there are many of them about. This place would be good if you are looking for a place to live as it's got plenty of beautiful new built houses and flats. Individuals who want to go out on a lovely walk who are local have a variety of things to get up to... you can go out at night for food, watch movie or even the kids can play about in the inflatable ninja warrior.” ✨A huge thank you to the CMT for hosting this day of activities. #InsightDay #TFFutureMe #LiveWorkStudyPlay #CareerInsights
