The festive season should be one of joy and celebration, but for many families it will be marked by the worry and uncertainty of having a seriously sick child in hospital. None of us want to imagine our child being seriously ill needing treatment in a hospital many miles from home. Especially at Christmas. By donating £40 you can keep a family together this Christmas in our ‘Homes from Home’. https://lnkd.in/eQzHFfuK #christmasppeal #christmas #charityappeal #charitysupport

We're here, so families can be together
About us
The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. By providing families with somewhere to stay together just minutes from their child they have one less thing to worry about. It costs The Sick Children’s Trust £40 to support a family for one night. £40 gives a family so much more than just a roof over their heads when their child is in hospital. £40 gives them someone to talk to, and a calm place to rest with their family.

Two-year-old Lola suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy before going into heart failure. She needed a heart transplant at The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle where we supported her parents, Ella and Rob, at Scott House so they could always be together. Since recovering Lola has been doing well at home, making special festive memories last year. Watch the full video here https://lnkd.in/eQzHFfuK and help us keep more families together this Christmas. #charitysupport #christmasappeal #charity

Last year Myla spent the festive period in Leeds Children’s Hospital recovering from a liver transplant, which meant she spent her first Christmas in hospital, 220-miles away from her home in Scotland. We supported her parents, Laura and Liam, at Eckersley House so they could stay together as a family over Christmas. Read about Myla’s transplant journey on our website https://bit.ly/sctmyla #charitysupport #charity

This Christmas we expect all ten of our ‘Homes from Home’ to be full, ensuring that families with a seriously sick child in hospital can be together. However, we can only do this with your help. Hear from our fantastic ambassador, Tim Downie, about how you can support families with a 'Home from Home' this Christmas. https://lnkd.in/eQzHFfuK #celebrityambassador #christmasappeal #charitysupport

Last week we welcomed our wonderful ambassador Anton Du Beke to our Acorn and Chestnut Houses in Cambridge. Anton spent the day finding out how we support families while their children are seriously ill at Addenbrooke's and The Rosie Hospitals, spoke to families who are currently staying with us and even surprised the nurses on the paediatric intensive care unit. Thank you so much for coming to see us Anton and for all your amazing support. #celebrityambassador #charitysupporter #charity

We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our board of trustees. The Trustees provide a vital role in steering The Sick Children’s Trust and ensuring it delivers on its charitable aims. We are currently seeking a trustee with expertise in legal and governance matters to support our work. It is important to us to have the voice of the families we are here to help represented on our board, so we are also looking for a service user and someone from the North/North East region of England to join our board. If you fit into one or more of these categories we’d love to hear from you. Please click here https://lnkd.in/evSAYXyd to download our recruitment pack or email Anne Davies at [email protected] #recruitment #trustees #thirdsector

A big thank you to the team from RBC Brewin who volunteered for the day at Eckersley House to make some delicious food for our families to enjoy when they returned from the hospital. Thank you all so much for your support which made such a difference to our families. #volunteering #charitysupport

We're overjoyed to announce that we have raised an astounding £86,633 through our Big Give Christmas Challenge! A massive thank you to everyone who donated, shared and fundraised towards our appeal and to Big Give and the Reed Foundation for matching those donations to help us reach this magnificent total. Your support means we'll be able to support over 250 families in our 'Homes from Home', keeping them close to their seriously ill children over the festive period and beyond. From all of us, thank you! #BigGive #ChristmasChallenge #Thankyou

During the Big Give Christmas challenge last year we raised an incredible £37,394 which supported families for 935 nights. This year we’ve set an even bigger target of £82,700 so that we can support families for over double the number of nights! However, we can only do this with your support so please donate what you can so families can be with their seriously sick children. Please donate what you can https://lnkd.in/e6s2uRkd #BigGive #ChristmasChallenge #matchfunding
