👊🏻💥Introducing our new TRI CIC Community Manager - Tom Hancocks 💥👊🏻 We are delighted to welcome Tom to the team to lead our innovative mission to increase community engagement, support grassroots clubs with development, inspire the next generation, and grow the sport we love. Tom has kicked off his role with a hugely successful week of half term rugby camps organised across four clubs where over 150 young people will have an engaging, enjoyable and memorable experiences. As part of TRI CIC, Tom will be responsible for engaging our @therugbyinstitute athletes in community initiatives to support clubs and organisations to promote positive role models within our community. Tom is available to chat through all the TRI CIC initiatives that will be delivered across the South West over the next few months. Unlike many development pathways we focus on the individual and their outcome, championing progress through persistence and providing a safety net for the high quantity of young athletes that have been overlooked. We are super excited to welcome Gareth ‘Steeno’ Steenson to the TRI Team as a technical coaching and kicking consultant as part of our global network. • • In 2008, Steeno made the move from Ulster rugby to the UK and played for Rotherham Titans and Cornish Pirates before going on to be a Championship, Premiership and European cup winner with Exeter Chiefs. His 24 points to gain promotion from the championship in 2010 ignited the rise of Exeter Chiefs and in 2017 ‘Steeno’ steered Chiefs to their first premiership win, kicking the winning penalty. • • In a 16 year career, Gareth was one of the most accurate kickers in Europe becoming the Chiefs all time record points scorer and winner of the 2016 premiership golden boot. • • Since retiring, Gareth has found succes in coaching and has been recently appointed as the kicking coach for the Irish Womens Rugby Team and City of Armagh backs coach. • • Gareth’s technical knowledge and extensive high performance experience will be huge for our athletes. As a player the legacy he left as in the South West is hugely inspirational for the next generation of young rugby talent. • • A professional of Gareth’s quality as part of our global network is a statement of the elite expertise TRI athletes will experience on our programme.
