Kailea from Solent Youth Action won The Rosie Rooms competition and had me down today to deliver their prize of bitesize team training on Trauma Informed Practice! This is a snapshot from a team exercise - everyone was so engaging. What a brilliant team of practitioners they all are. Super reflective and passionate about their roles. Keep up the great work. Thanks for having me! #therosieroom #rosieleigh #solentyouthaction

🙏📖👀 Rosies Book Reviews! 📕 You Make Your Parents Super Happy by Ricky K. Chandler 💭 This book is about a little one whose parents/carers are separating. It talks of how it might be in the house before people decide to separate in simple, child sensitive ways. It then talks of how loved a child is in spite of parents/carers not being able to live together anymore. This book acknowledges difficult feelings a child may have around this time (it’s scary, sad and unexpected) but the theme through it all is the love that people have for their child regardless. What I also love is that it is uses gender neutral language. Parents/carers could read this with their children, as could education professionals supporting a child going through household separation or family members. I'd say it was appropriate for little ones, perhaps 3 and up. This book is inclusive and insightful. #therosieroom #rosieleigh #parentalseparation #parentsandcarers #bookreview

The Rosie Room ventured into the stall world for the first time last week after lots of prep! The Youth Trends Conference 2024 organised by Stacey Miller was just fab. Great speakers including Duke Harrison-Hunter , Ahmad Jooma and others. Our team won the awesome quiz at the end and I loved meeting other professionals in the area and sharing what I do. Surprisingly most of the sweets and chocolate didn't go!!!!! So sadly, very sadly, I had to take those home to my children! So sad 🤗 #youthtrendsconference2024 #therosieroom #rosieleigh #selfcare #wellbeing

🙏📖👀 Rosies Book Reviews! 📕 Grandma by Jessica Shepherd 💭 My thoughts on this one.... Oh my heart 💔❤️ This book is about a little boy who loves his Grandma and the experience of dementia setting in for her. This book talks of how confusing, usetting and difficult it can be, but also the realities of moving to a space to be appropriately cared for and keeping who she is in the core of his mind. Parents could read this with their children and I'd say it was appropriate for any age! There is also a factual couple of pages at the back to help give language to what is going on for the family. This book is touching, thoughtul and true. 100% recommend. #therosieroom #rosieleigh #dementia #parentsandcarers #bookreview

Had a lovely time in Cambridge at the Ollie and His Superpowers conference 2024. Working with Cindy Gilmore is always the most fun, and we support each other Delivering training or talks on the Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed/Aware practice is so interesting as you get to hear others experiences as a practitioner or client. Planting the seed of thought, reflection or change for people is all we can ask for - The feedback we received suggests we did this, so I'm very happy 😊 Lovely bunch! #ollieandhissuperpowers #therosieroom #rosieleigh #cindygilmore

🙏📖👀 Rosies Book Reviews! 📕 Mum's Jumper by Jayde Perkin 💭 This is a simple but effective book that will strike a chord with anyone experiencing grief. It depicts the story of loss, the immediate effects and the 'growing around your grief' analogy with the support of those around you. The book is gentle, genuine and relatable. Parents could read this with their children and would be suitable for children aged 5+ I'd say (developmentally speaking). I believe this book may pave the way towards normalising feelings and experiences which at the time will feel completely abnormal and unwanted. Keep your eyes peeled for the next review in the series! #therosieroom #rosieleigh #grief #loss #parentsandcarers #bookreview
