Virgin Media O2 has released its “Year in Review” which has some interesting insights about how Brits lived in 2024. Data consumption in the UK rose in 2024 with broadband usage rising by 8.1% and mobile data increasing by 9%. The data also found that the most popular day of the week to commute was Wednesday, with 74% of Brits making the journey to work. We’re delighted to have brought assured in-building mobile connectivity from all the UK network operators to The National Robotarium which is based at Heriot-Watt campus in Edinburgh, Scotland 🤖. As a leading centre for robotics and artificial intelligence, strong and reliable mobile connectivity is vital for the testing and development of robotic systems. Furthermore, due to proximity to an international airport, the need for a bespoke in-built mobile system was also identified to ensure the facility’s engineers, scientists, business leaders and professionals could maintain contact with clients and partners throughout the day. Freshwave deployed indoor small cells throughout. And now? “It’s had rave reviews,” said Steve Maclaren, COO at the National Robotarium. In the latest example of the NHS using technology to improve treatment, cancer patients are set to benefit from a new iPhone app and attachment that will quicken diagnostics. The innovation comes in the form of an adapter which has a 32mm lens and comes with an app that essentially turns the device into a portable diagnostic gadget capable of live endoscopy examinations. It's anticipated that the device could be used in any NHS setting to alleviate pressure, free up resources, and reduce waiting times.
