EV’s work better with a home charger ⚡️ Switching my home charger to the Pod Point Solo 3S, when it was time to get a new one, was easy. Like anything, I did my research and chose something that fits my needs. I think it looks great, and it does exactly what I need it to, with great customer service and an easy to use app. But, when you dig a little deeper, you can see just how good this charger is, and how reliable Pod Point are. Limited discount codes available, it can be my Christmas gift to you 🎁 James Taylor The EV Guy The EV Feed #electriccar #electricvehicle #evcharging #podpoint #ad #netzero #sustainability

New car deliveries being “held back” 🚗 If you’re one of the thousands of UK drivers eagerly waiting for a new petrol or diesel car this holiday season, be prepared for a delay. Many manufacturers are “holding back” deliveries until January, using a controversial strategy to meet the government's electric vehicle sales targets. That is according to Vertu Motors boss Robert Forrester, but is this reality, or is it the manufacturers using the press to put more pressure on the government? We all know how big of a threat public opinion is. According to Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors, dealers are being forced to withhold keys to new petrol and diesel cars that have already been sold. These vehicles are apparently being kept in “compounds” to avoid hefty fines under the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate, which requires carmakers to sell at least 22% electric vehicles this year. Failure to hit that target could result in a £15,000 fine per vehicle. Forrester claims that this tactic is a form of “rationing by the back door” aimed at artificially inflating EV sales figures. (It doesn’t inflate EV sales figures. If true, it would inflate EV market share). With the ZEV mandate ramping up each year, manufacturers are apparently prioritising EV’s to avoid penalties. The mandate, which started in 2024, is part of a broader push to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2035. It imposes annual sales targets that increase through the decade, and manufacturers can face significant financial penalties for falling short. As Forrester pointed out, this strategy is frustrating for car buyers, with many “unable to take delivery” of their vehicles just before Christmas. While some manufacturers are struggling, others are thriving and we could simply be seeing a survival or the fittest, as well as the inevitable doom of some car manufacturers being brought forward. #elecriccar #electricvehicle #ev #evcharging #zev #netzero #sustainability

Tesla DO NOT have a water engine ⚡️ It is astounding that we need to debunk myths, but that’s where the world is at right now. Over the weekend, several YouTube channels reported that Elon Musk has said “Tesla will release a water engine”. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Just like it’s also not true that Tesla are working on a hydrogen car (Model H 🤣). More needs to be done to tackle misinformation online. It is ridiculous, and it’s making the worlds population less and less intelligent over time. #tesla #elonmusk #waterengine #electriccar #electricvehicle #netzero #sustainability

We will fail if EV chargers aren’t working ⚡️ It’s great see Jordan M The EV Guy team up with Semtech to support CPO’s in the UK, to meet those tough new regulations. It’s so important that EV chargers are working. If they don’t work, we can’t “refuel” and it’s the CPO’s that hold our future in their hands. #electriccar #electricvehicle #evcharging #netzero #sustainability

Chargers must always be available for drivers ⚡️ Ensuring uptime and availability of charging stations has never been more crucial. With new regulations in-place, and EV adoption on the rise, the need for reliable and efficient charging infrastructure is at an all time high. Semtech is here to help Charge Point Operators meet this challenge. Their innovative solutions are designed to increase operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure maximum uptime for your EV chargers, helping CPO’s stay ahead of the competition, while meeting evolving regulatory standards. In 2023, they acquired Sierra Wireless, a leading IoT solutions provider with 30 years of experience, for their cellular connectivity hardware and network services. Why does this matter? Chargers need to be reliable for EV drivers, especially as the number of electric vehicles on the road grows. To comply with new regulations, CPO’s must now achieve 99% uptime and availability, which is also directly linked to revenue and customer satisfaction. With Semtech’s resilient IoT technology, CPO’s can stay ahead of the curve, and provide EV drivers with the fast, reliable charging experience they expect, while keeping their business running smoothly. Watch the video below to see how Semtech can help your business thrive in this rapidly evolving landscape. China EV sales tracker ⚡️🇨🇳 In November, China's EV market saw mostly positive growth, with notable exceptions like Li Auto and Nio. BYD led with 504,003 passenger NEV’s (up 0.7% from October), bringing their 2024 total to over 3.7 million, a 40% increase YoY. Despite slowing growth in PHEV sales, BYD's BEV’s are catching up, now comprising 39.3% of total sales. Geely followed with 122,453 NEV’s (up 12.6% from October) and Zeekr posted a strong 106% YoY increase, delivering 27,011 units. Changan reported 100,000 NEV sales, with brands like Deepa achieving record-breaking results. Li Auto faced a slight decline, delivering 48,740 units (down 5.3% from October), but still saw a 18.8% YoY increase. In the fast-growing NEV category (which includes BEV’s, PHEV’s, and FCEV’s), the trend is clear: BEV’s are gaining share, with companies like BYD, Geely, and Xpeng making significant strides in global and domestic markets. Xiaomi, which started deliveries of its SU7 sedan, recorded 21,955 units sold. Nio saw a minor dip, with 20,575 units sold, though it remains up 28.9% YoY. The competitive landscape continues to shift, with newer entrants like Xpeng's Mona sedan gaining traction and legacy automakers adjusting to the rapidly evolving EV space. What do you think of China’s range of BEV’s? Can you see it continuing to grow? #china #ev #electriccar #electricvehice #byd #netzero #sustainability

Charging from home is a game changer ⚡️ One of the biggest perks of owning an electric vehicle, is the ability to charge it at home, and the Pod Point Solo 3S does the job perfectly. For me, it's been a game-changer in so many ways. Charging at home is incredibly cost effective. I can fully charge my Tesla Model Y for less than £5 using smart charging, which gives me enough range to last around a week. Compare that to fueling a petrol or diesel car, and the savings really add up. No more detours to petrol stations or waiting in line for a pump. I simply plug in at home overnight, and my car is ready to go by morning with a full battery. It's like waking up to a "full tank" whenever I need to. With the option to choose renewable energy tariffs, I know my home charging is not just cheaper, but also better for the environment. I can also charge my EV whenever it suits me, taking advantage of off-peak electricity rates for even lower costs. Smart charging features on the Pod Point app also make it easy to optimise charging times. For those considering an EV or curious about home charging, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a seamless way to make EV ownership not just sustainable, but incredibly practical and affordable. If you’ve got questions about EV's, charging from home, or how to make the transition, feel free to connect or drop a message.
