    Triglycerides impact several health factors, including: 1. **Heart Health:** High triglyceride levels can contribute to the hardening or thickening of artery walls, increasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart disease. 2. **Metabolic Syndrome:** Elevated triglycerides are one component of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions that include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels, which together increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. 3. **Liver Health:** High levels of triglycerides can lead to fatty liver disease, either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, which can affect liver function and lead to inflammation or liver damage. 4. **Pancreatitis Risk:** Extremely high triglyceride levels can cause inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), a serious condition that requires medical attention. 5. **Insulin Sensitivity:** High triglyceride levels may be a sign of insulin resistance, which can progress to type 2 diabetes if not managed properly.     Physicians may hesitate to prescribe a ketogenic diet due to concerns about cardiovascular disease. These concerns are often influenced by observational studies that focus on high-fat diets that overlook the type of fat or carbohydrate intake. However, a therapeutic ketogenic diet is fundamentally different from the high-fat diets observed in those studies, which is why research specifically on ketogenic diets shows different cardiovascular outcomes. In fact, a recently published meta-analysis of over 2,500 medical records found that a ketogenic diet not only didn't increase cardiovascular disease risk—it actually reduced it.     Would anyone accept opening smoking up to kids? Oh, good. We're all in agreement. What if smoking was already open to kids, and if most kids were going through a pack a day, would it then be acceptable to allow kids to continue smoking if we could reduce the usage rate from a pack a day to just a few cigarettes a day? Oh, good. We're still in agreement. What if kids were addicted from years of smoking, but a big pharmaceutical company came out with a drug that made smoking less appealing, helping kids smoke less often, would that be an acceptable solution or would we need to make smoking illegal for kids? Outstanding. Before 1970 childhood obesity rates in the US were below 5%. Before 1970 childhood consumption of processed foods was below 10% of caloric intake. By 1999 childhood obesity was up to 14%. By 1999 childhood consumption of processed foods was close to 50% of caloric intake. By 2015 childhood obesity was up to 18% By 2015 childhood consumption of processed foods was over 60% of caloric intake. Today childhood obesity is 21% Today childhood consumption of processed foods is roughly 70% of caloric intake. GLP-1s are now FDA approved for 12 year old children. The next step is 6 year old children. Our tax money subsidizes the production of processed foods. Doctors are telling us this isn't a problem. Government officials are telling us processed foods are a great way to get non perishables into food deserts. My friends, processed foods are the cigarettes of the 21st century, and we're only in it's 24th year.

    The greatest mistake ever made in the study of Human energy balance (metabolism) was approaching it like we would an internal combustion engine (ICE) and I think as we are propelled into the age of the electric vehicle (EV) more and more people will start to see the wood for the trees... Currently most people compare human metabolism to an ICE, where food is thought of as "fuel" that we simply burn for energy. But reality is that our bodies are much more complex than that. Instead of burning fuel, human metabolism relies on a series of intricate chemical reactions to produce energy at the cellular level—think of it more like the way electricity is generated, making an EV a far more apt comparison than an ICE. In its most granular detail, our metabolism isn’t about fire, heat or fuel but rather the transfer of electrons. Inside our cells, mitochondria produce energy through oxidative phosphorylation, a process that relies on creating ATP (adenosine triphosphate) by moving electrons down an electron transport chain. This is essentially a biochemical form of electricity generation, driven by nutrients rather than combustion - like an EV, not an ICE... This brings me to the concept of intuitive eating vs. traditional calorie counting. When we frame our metabolic needs in an appropriate way (biochemical electricity production), it becomes obvious that the quality of food (correct essential nutrients for our species) plays a far more important role in ensuring positive health outcomes than just tracking caloric intake - we need the correct inputs for these chemical reactions, use of incorrect inputs causes derangement and chronic disease... What we consume absolutely matters and basing our diet on animal-based, low-carb whole foods works with our body’s natural metabolic processes to provide steady, sustained energy through balanced blood sugar, providing the correct inputs needed for tissue & hormone production and enhances health outcomes - this is the CORRECT input needed for our "EV" 😉 It is the correct input because it allows for better hunger regulation, energy production, hormone balance, tissue growth & change and together this all combines to make it more sustainable because you support your body's ability to efficiently produce energy, without the metabolic rollercoaster of spikes and crashes. Ultimately, intuitive eating, centered around nutrient-dense, animal-based foods, aligns with our biology. It’s about giving your body the tools it needs to thrive, rather than just feeding it numbers. When you fuel your body properly, you'll find it’s much easier to maintain health and vitality without obsessing over calorie intake or how to justify your next "treat"...
