The Business of General Practice ⬇️
🏥 Understanding The Business of General Practice: While GP practices have always managed multiple income streams, PCN funding is becoming increasingly more important. 💡 But it's important to remember: ➡️ Every income stream requires resource ➡️ Income isn't always recurring ➡️ Payment delays are common ➡️ Funding often comes with restrictions ➡️ Some funding opportunities look good on paper but are impractical to implement ➡️ Decisions about income allocation must be agreed upon by multiple independent businesses, each with different financial situations At the network level, the ideal scenario is for practices to: 🤝 Collaborate on service delivery 👥 Maximise the use of additional roles 💰 Generate supplementary income where possible For the networks where there is low trust or perceived poor leadership and management, the ideal scenario presented is nothing but a pipe dream! The more we understand the business complexities and funding challenges of general practice, the more effectively we can support our networks, which is why we created our guide, An Introduction to the Business of General Practice for our Primary Care Network Members Club. #GeneralPractice #PrimaryCare #PCN #NHSFinance #Healthcare #PCNLeadership Sophie H., Valentina Suma, Lauren, Natasha Roxborough, Lauren Watts THC Primary Care
