Joining us at the round table on 'Designing for Neurodiversity in the Workplace' at RIBA, London, on November 13th, is another remarkable delegate whose insights we’re excited to share. Catherine Rayner – Owner, Interior Designer and Neuroinclusive consultant and designer for the built environment at Squarepeg Design: https://lnkd.in/egiJsKFa In 2019, Catherine, a former Police Officer of 18 years served with Leicestershire Police, embarked on a degree course achieving a First BA Hons for Interior Design. Having identified her struggles within different environments, Catherine researched the Impact of the Sensory Physical and Social Environment for Neurodivergent Individuals, and if interior design correlated to meet their needs with regard to mental well-being and productivity. From this research and Catherine’s own lived experiences and talent it was evident that the design of workspaces were disadvantaging people. This set her on a course to improve equality, mental well-being and betterment of life, not only for Neurodivergent people but everyone. Catherine has supported the Neurodiversity Movement since 2020, setting up her own company Squarepeg Design in 2023. Catherine provides Neurodiversity inputs to Property and Construction Industry Networks, and is a panel member on the Inclusion Panel for RIBA’s 84 million pound House of Architecture refurbishment. “Workspace and place have gone through a whirlwind of change, as too has research into Neurodivergent conditions. We must recognise that the design of our workspace is integral to the Neurodiversity Paradigm of Inclusion." Catherine is also representing Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity, supporting the charities’ voice for change. #roundtableevent #neuroinclusivedesign #sensoryinclusion #neurofriendlyoffice #designforallminds #tailoredroundtables #inclusivedesign #NiB
