🌟 A huge congratulations and well done to members in our Surrey Fire and Rescue Service - Karen, Danni and Hannah for winning Neurodiversity Champion of the Year at the Fire and Emergency Awards! This follows the success to introduce Microlink to our service, which works with staff to understand their needs and recommend reasonable adjustments to support them in their work. 👏 A big well done to Bernie and Matt who were also nominated and shortlisted for awards (Unsung Hero and Most Influential LGBTQ+ Individual in Fire)! #NoOneLeftBehind #SurreyJobs #TeamSurrey #Neurodiversity #EmergencyServices #Community #Awards #TeamWork #Congratulations

Would you leave your business’s valuable stock or physical property unprotected? Of course not – but many businesses don’t protect their intellectual property (IP) in the same way. IP is too important for your business to just leave it to chance. But it’s an area that’s often misunderstood or ignored, leaving businesses exposed to potential risks. We can help. We are holding a complimentary in-person workshop in partnership with Surrey Heath Borough Council to help Surrey businesses understand how to protect their business’s vital IP. The session will provide insights and practical advice to help you protect your business’s valuable assets now and in the future. Join us for actionable tips on: * The different types of IP rights available * Practical case studies and examples of real-life disputes you can learn from * Basics of IP registration and enforcement The workshop will include a Q&A session, and will be led by IP expert Laurie Heizler, practicing solicitor specialising in all IP matters at TWM Solicitors LLP. When and Where: 📅 29 January, 8.30am - 11am 📍 Surrey Heath Borough Council, Knoll Road, Camberley GU15 3HD Places are FREE and there’s no limit on the number of attendees from a single organisation – but you must book to reserve your space: https://orlo.uk/Wvyy3 Business Surrey #IPTheft #IntellectualProperty #IPRights #SurreyBusiness

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service have opened a Wellbeing Garden at Woking! 🚒 Designed by Woking firefighters, this outdoor space is a place for crews to relax, reflect, and host Veterans’ Hub meetings. Crew Commander, Gary said: “It’s a space for us to unwind, whether that's after a tough incident or during a break. Surrey County Council proudly re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant on Tuesday morning ahead of Full Council. This reaffirms our commitment to ensuring fair treatment for serving personnel, veterans, their families, and the bereaved. First signed in 2012, the Covenant represents our promise to recognise the unique sacrifices of the Armed Forces community and ensure they face no disadvantage. Saj Hussain, Chair of the Council and Chairman of the Military Board, said: “Surrey County Council enjoys an excellent relationship with the Armed Forces across Surrey as we work together in partnership with the Armed Forces Community in the provision of education, health, and housing. We are proud to be recognised as a ‘Military Friendly Employer of Choice,’ having twice received the MoD Employer Recognition Gold Award.” Colonel David Kenny OBE, Commander HQ South East added: “It is fantastic for me to engage with civic leaders across Surrey, a county that plays a leading role in supporting the Armed Forces. From co-hosting Armed Forces Day in 2015 to your ongoing support for military charities and serving communities, Surrey’s commitment stands out. The re-signing of the Armed Forces Covenant today is a reaffirmation of our commitment. It’s clear to me that Surrey truly cares.” We are honoured to stand with our Armed Forces and thank them for their service to our communities and our country. #SurreyCountyCouncil #ArmedForcesCovenant #Surrey #ArmedForces

We are proud that our Surrey Libraries UK are at the heart of communities across Surrey. Susan Wills MBE , our Assistant Director in Cultural Services had a fantastic visit to Dorking Library this winter. During the visit, Susan was pleased to see all the fantastic activities and support that the library had to offer to our communities, including: 🌟 Digital screens displaying all the wonderful events, such as Rhyme time, Lego Club, Chess Club and Chatterbooks Reading Group. ❄️ A lucky dip for children, which was ready and waiting for a fun community event to promote reading with The Reading Agency Winter Mini Challenge. 🎁 The Stripey Stork Collection Box, filling up with donations and with information available about the charity supporting families in need. 📚 Friendly staff engaging with users in a warm space, which was filled with people enjoying colouring sheets and crosswords, creating a real sense of community. Reflecting on her visit, Susan says: “Prevention is at the heart of everything I do and I feel privileged as a senior leader to be part of an organisation that is making a real difference to people’s lives, making sure no-one is left behind. Great visit to Dorking Library yesterday to ‘walk the shop floor’ and chat with front line staff. As I walked in I saw the prevention model in action… Supporting people by providing the right support, in the right place and at the right time is key to improving outcomes for our customers and communities. It takes a great team, strong partnerships and a real ‘can do’ attitude to make that happen on the ground. Thank you to everyone that made that happen at Dorking Library” #Community #Libraries #SurreyLibrariesUK #DorkingLibrary #Prevention #Reading #SupportLocal #FamilySupport #WinterActivities #MakingADifference
