Last night, a significant event was hosted by Anneka Gill, marking our 2nd gathering aimed at raising awareness for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This event served as a stark reminder of the crucial role that social housing plays in the lives of survivors of domestic abuse. It also shed light on the impact of the current housing shortage on these survivors, highlighting the urgent need for action in this area. Our panel included Nina Aouilk FRSA Freeman of The City of London who bravely shared her story. Her powerful narrative moved the entire audience, underlining the urgent improvements required to protect women at risk, as well as the important role her organisation End Honour Killings. We were delighted to welcome back Polly Harrar, the founder of the EDAC UK. She enlightened us on the critical role employers can play in supporting survivors. She shared various initiatives that can be implemented to make impactful improvements in the lives of survivors. We hope that many of you heed her call to action and implement these initiatives in your workplaces. We also had the pleasure of having Tracey McEachran FRSA, MA, PCC (She/Her) with us, who shared her Hear Her Voice Campaign. Additionally, Sonu Masania from Surviving Economic Abuse joined us and shared valuable insights.
