Here we are at video five, and I am leaving Infant school to go to boarding school. My parents now recognised that I wasn’t doing well at school and that something needed to be done about it. To get in, though, was not simply about requesting a place. My behaviour around reading continued for a while, and I continued to care for those creepy crawlies! Testing is not considered to be outstanding EYFS practice but it is important that we monitor children to ensure they are not overlooked. #eyfsbestpractice

Repetition. Do we underestimate how important this is? On reflection I agree older pop songs are easier to remember. ✨ How is it with you? The full sparkDEBATE about What are the benefits of music in the early years is here - https://lnkd.in/eHrJbcKp #eyfsmusic

Looking here to cut overheads when cross-referencing and scaffolding learning. The FREE Booklet can be viewed using this link https://lnkd.in/eK9ZjzHH. The booklet is a quick read and packed with ideas to reflect on current practice and offers a way to help you. 💷 💷 💷The emphasis of this playlist is to encourage day nursery and preschool owners to review how they could save revenue for their EYFS business, particularly when government funding is lacking, minimum wage rises, and other costs accelerate too. 💷 💷 💷 Keeping EYFS or child development records underpins good practice. The EYFS records enable the early years educator to gather important information and get to know their key child well. In turn, this enables the EYFS practitioner to implement and facilitate learning opportunities that help each child to make optimum progress. 🏆 #eyfslearning

The focus of video four is on how I managed to avoid reading out loud in class at Infants School and how this impacted my feelings of failure and life at home. I talk about how my lack of reading ability was overlooked by teachers and how cleverly I managed to overcome this problem at school. To my knowledge, nothing was done to help me, and you can imagine the bother I got at home with the phone messages! Our childhood experiences impact our adult behaviour, too, as I share my uneasiness with the phone. It is important to help children feel successful. This can only be done by careful observation, tuning into their current stage, and providing the right learning opportunities for each child. Nov 2024 - Life moves on. I made this original film about two years ago, and 'the phone' is mostly cracked. I have changed my mindset to: What can I learn from the call. Fancy sharing a similar experience? #eyfsbestpractice https://lnkd.in/dy2kwBkh

How to not instil bad habits around eating from the early years. The full sparkDEBATE with Louise can be found with the link in the comments. Louise Mercieca 📚🥑🥕 talks with me from sparkearlyyears about the importance of nutrition in early years education and its role in child development, social skills, and well-being. It discusses challenges around planning healthy menus, accommodating dietary needs, and limiting processed foods. Louise highlights the necessity of fostering good eating habits early on, stressing portion control, self-regulation, and family-style dining to encourage positive mealtime experiences. We also touch on staff well-being, advocating for healthier food options in "well-being tables" and cautioning against sugar-filled choices. 👉🏼 How has your childhood shaped your habit with food? #eyfsnutrition https://lnkd.in/e8VZpVri
