💯 There's one 100% guaranteed way to get more engagement on your social media posts. ❌ It's not posting better content ❌ It's not finding the best time of day to post ❌ It's not tagging loads of people to get attention ❌ It's not adding more and more hashtags to try and get more views ❌ It's not discovering some new group or platform where your ideal clients are now hanging out No - the simple step you need to take to ramp up engagement on your posts is for you yourself to engage more with other people's posts. There are two key reasons: 1) Most importantly, we are human beings! We respond positively to other people showing an interest in us! So if you start engaging with other people's posts, more and more of those people will be inclined to engage with your posts the next time they see one. 2) The algorithms also reward this. If a social media site sees two people in conversation, that's an indicator that they should each be shown more of each other's content - as it looks like they are interested in one another. 🔑 So if you want to unlock getting more engagement on your posts it's simple: just engage! engage! engage! yourself... Will you commit to giving this a try for just a couple of weeks? Quite sure you'll be bowled over by the results!! #SocialMedia #marketing #DigitalMarketing

⏰ Should you use social media scheduling tools? (For anyone not familiar with what these are, they are tools that will publish social media posts you have written at specified times during the week) For our business - and for our clients' businesses - we use a mixture of scheduled posts and manual posts. Here's why, captured in the pros & cons of each... PROS ✅ Massively increases the activity levels of your whole team by ensuring a minimum level of posting for everyone is achieved ✅ Makes it easy to stay on the radar of potential clients / candidates in timezones that you'd not reach if having to post during your own office hours ✅ Helps eradicate "feast and famine" posting patterns and instead locks in consistency of presence ✅ Can allow the people in your team who have the best copywriting skills / who are the most authentic on social media to have their natural expertise leveraged across multiple accounts CONS ❌ Certain posting activities aren't possible via scheduling tools, so if you want to tag people, post polls, publish PDFs, etc., then some manual posting is essential ❌ If you aren't disciplined, there's a danger that "posting on autopilot" results in your accounts engaging less often with other people ❌ If "breaking news" is important in the sector you work in, then this can't really be scheduled in advance. So, in practice, we've found that a hybrid of both approaches is best. But what about you? How do you like to post on your accounts during a typical week? #SocialMediaMarketing #DigitalMarketing #LinkedinTips

👏👏👏 Well done, LinkedIn! Have you noticed fewer fake accounts spamming you here of late? That's thanks to LinkedIn strengthening its counter-measures, resulting in a 51% increase in the number of fake accounts being stopped from being created at the point of registration. Most of this is now being achieved through sophisticated automated defences, stopping 94.6% of detected fake accounts - 99.7% of which are being removed before a member has had to report them. Put another way, LinkedIn is dealing with the problem even before users have been pestered by the fake accounts. Given we can be guilty of jumping on LinkedIn for every technical problem and unwanted change we see here, I wanted to also acknowledge when actions are being taken that benefit us all. Great job, LinkedIn!

Is this the worst LinkedIn advice ever? You may have other contenders (feel free to drop them in the comments), but I see this one being bandied around all the time... ... and it's TERRIBLE advice! Certainly, if you do business with decision-makers in large corporates - like most of the consulting firms, headhunters and other B2B clients we tend to work with. The bad advice? ❌ Focus your efforts here on the people who actually post on LinkedIn. The first reason this is bad advice is that only 3% of LinkedIn users post anything here. Do you really want to ignore 97% of your market?! But the second reason is one I repeatedly hear when I'm presenting at MBA schools: In a lot of large corporates, executives are barred from posting on social media or have to get approval from their legal team before they can post. Why? Because they are senior enough that the opinions they share could have ramifications for the company's share price, could be construed as being the company's official position on something, be seen as an attempt to manipulate the market... The list goes on, but bottom line is that the decision-makers with the greatest buying decision-power are also the LinkedIn users least likely to be posting here. What this means is that if your business largely sells to (or partners with) senior decision-makers in large corporates, you absolutely mustn't follow this advice if you want to build high-level relationships here! Hope this helps - and what other dubious advice do you see doing the rounds here?

❓ Do you ever struggle with what to post on LinkedIn? If so, these ideas from Louise Brogan should prove a great help. Taking the concept of “They Asked, You Answer” by Marcus Sheridan, you can think about the questions people tend to ask when meeting someone like you. Use questions that arise in conversations as prompts for what to create content about – and build a network of professionals interested in these same topics to help amplify your message. Hope this helps you unlock lots of creative ideas for what to post in the coming weeks! Any other ideas you'd add? #personalbranding #contentmarketing #linkedintips
