2024 has been an unforgettable year for SMC! 🎉 From ground-breaking projects in London and beyond, to launching exciting new CPD courses, continuing to provide 24/7 aftercare and maintenance for our amazing clients, celebrating award wins, presenting CEDIA presentations to the next generation and attending (and hosting!) fabulous events – it’s been a whirlwind! 🌍🏆✨ As the year wraps up, we’re reflecting on everything our incredible team has accomplished. Last week, we kicked off the festive season in style with our 2024 SMC Christmas party at F1 Arcade, and what an amazing experience it was! 🚗💨 The night was filled with friendly competition, nonstop laughter, and plenty of holiday cheer. 🎄✨ A huge thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable celebration!

Revolutionising Audio for LED Walls - In addition to a standard setup with three LCR front speakers positioned behind the screen, Giles and the TPI Aerospace Limited team showcased their innovative solution for large-format LED walls, where placing LCR speakers behind the screen isn’t an option. The TPI Movement system employs six strategically placed speakers—three above and three below the screen—paired with a proprietary TPI Movement Controller. This advanced technology precisely steers the audio toward the listening position. The result? A soundstage that appears to originate exactly from the intended location, even though the speakers aren’t physically there. Remarkably, the clarity and immersive quality we experienced with conventional speaker placement were fully preserved. Simply incredible!

Mixing couture & technology - This project centres around a Lutron Europe Homeworks QSX lighting system, designed to illuminate a modern London home and showcase beautiful vintage dresses. Integrated with DALI fixtures, it offers precise control over brightness and colour temperature to protect the fabrics and enhance their display. Lighting is controlled via Apple HomePods and custom Maison Meljac keypads, and a custom 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound system with Steinway Lyngdorf speakers delivers cinematic audio in the home theatre. We had the privilege of visiting the new TPI Aerospace Limited HQ in Leicester where they have been busy building a reference theatre alongside their new manufacturing facility. Acoustically and visually the theatre was breath-taking. With it's 15.6.8 speaker layout all powered by TPI amplification and utilising 3 TPI directors for DSP. The audio is stripped from HDMI and decoded into AES67 AOIP by a StormAudio EVO processor which also handles the video switching. Video sources are a Kaleidescape and a Panasonic North America UB9000 Blu Ray.    The outcome, earth shatteringly clear highs and mids with deep, powerful, pitch-accurate bass throughout the room. A totally immersive space to be reckoned with.
