Dean Fellows was forced to undergo a through-knee amputation after he was hit by a car while out riding his motorcycle. Dean was physically injured but also psychologically scarred by his ordeal. After the driver was sentenced with a fine and six penalty points on his licence, Fellows has called for tougher sentences for motoring offences – after the driver who caused his life-changing injuries “got away with barely a slap on the wrist”. “This has been an unimaginable ordeal for Dean, whose life was changed in an instant through this collision, which was absolutely no fault of his own,” says Richard Crabtree, Principal Lawyer in our personal injury team, who supported Dean in his claim. For the past week, we have been highlighting the importance of Road Safety Week, an annual campaign ran by Brake, the road safety charity. This years campaign focuses on raising awareness of the devastating toll of road crashes, and celebrate the work of the incredible people who support families after a road death or serious injury.
