What do cheese and Christmas pudding have in common? 🤔 Depending on your preference, either one makes a great finale to your three-course festive meal. Sadly, lots of them are wasted every year over the holiday period too. Keep them in a cool dry place or wrap them up tight to help them last longer. But if they've gone mouldy, make sure they go in your food waste caddy and not general waste bins, so they can be recycled into renewable energy at an AD plant like ours. You'll be surprised at how much power they can make. You can light a Christmas tree for 400,000 hours by capturing the energy from 2,000 tonnes of cheese wasted at Christmas, or warm a hot water bottle 40,000 times if we recycle 2,270 tonnes of Christmas pudding! 🎄 #renewableenergy #foodwaste #anaerobicdigestion #wastemanagement #Christmas #foodwasterecycling #Christmaspudding #cheese

Here's part three of our Christmas food waste 'adverts' 🦃 Did you know as many as four million turkeys go to waste every Christmas? If recycled into renewable energy at a food waste AD plant like ours, they can power a market town for a whole day! Buy what you need and use a portion planner to help you work it out. If your turkey is still good to eat after Christmas Day, give it a second chance as sandwich filling or a winter-warming stew. But if it's gone bad, be sure to put it in your food waste caddy so your local councils can bring them to us for recycling into renewable energy. Got some carrots on the side? Throw in the peels and let us do the rest 👍 #christmasfood #foodwaste #foodwasterecycling #renewableenergy #vegetables #turkey #leftoverfood #anaerobicdigestion

Here's the second part of our Christmas food waste 'adverts' 🍷 Panettone is now almost outselling Christmas pudding and fast becoming a festive staple in the UK. Even when it's a bit stale, this perfectly fluffy Italian bread tastes great if you throw in some extra ingredients to serve French toasts for a Boxing Day brunch. But if you're worried it's gone off, just put it in your food waste caddy and we'll happily take it along with your other food waste and recycle them into renewable energy at our AD facilities. All of your mulled wine spices can go in, too. Then let us do the rest 👍 #christmasfood #foodwaste #foodwasterecycling #renewableenergy #mulledwine #panettone #leftoverfood #anaerobicdigestion

A little video from our volunteering with CPRE The countryside charity last week in blustery Warwickshire.... 🍂 We planted 150m of young hedgerow that will become a haven for wildlife and help protect an existing ancient hedge🌿🌿 - all part of our volunteering commitment that enables our colleagues to give a little of their time each year to good causes. Feels good to do good! 💪 #GreenPower #sustainability #countryside #HedgerowHeroes #volunteering

Very excited to launch our Christmas campaign today 🥳 We know sometimes it's hard to see the impact we can make as individuals, especially when it comes to those really big issues like climate change, poverty or equality. So this Christmas, we want to help people make a stronger visual connection between the unavoidable food waste they recycle in their kitchen caddies and the renewable energy that comes out the other end that can power our homes and communities. Inspired by the fabulously festive supermarket campaigns, we’ve created our version with a food waste twist to highlight its energy potential if recycled and processed by anaerobic digestion facilities like ours. Let's start with mince pies. So many varieties and flavours (rum, orange, frangipane...) for shoppers to choose from these days, and yet around 4,000 tonnes go to waste every Christmas. If recycled, they can create enough clean energy to play the nation’s favourite Christmas movie 'Home Alone' seven million times! So, sweep up your crumbs or any gone-off pies and tarts and put them in your food waste bin. Stay tuned for more festive food waste facts on the countdown to Christmas 🎅 #Christmas #foodwaste #Christmasfood #renewableenergy #foodwasterecycling #campaignidea

2 million turkeys, 5 million Christmas puddings, and 74 million mince pies go to waste every Christmas, according to WRAP. We can't help but gasp at the amount of renewable energy all of that can make if they're collected in food waste caddies for recycling instead of general waste bins! 😲 The first step to recycling food waste starts at home, but we often get asked... "What happens next?" "Where does my food waste end up?" "What actually happens to all these scraps I put in my caddy?" Well, here's a simple explainer that follows the journey of food waste once your local council picks them up from your street. 🤓 So, will you be naughty or nice with your peels and cores this Christmas? 🎅 #foodwaste #christmas #festivefood #recyclingfood #renewableenergy #cleanenergy

Today has been all about muddy boots and frozen fingers. 🥾🖐🏻 Every year our colleagues can undertake two days of volunteering for a good cause - so today we thought it would be a great idea to get our entire Exec team out and about, planting a hedgerow in rural Warwickshire. 🌳🌳🌳 With gratitude to the CPRE The countryside charity Warwickshire branch, we’ve been supporting the Hedgerow Heroes project today by planting 150m of saplings which will eventually grow into a lively green haven for wildlife. 🐦⬛🦉🪺 Was it cold? Yes it was. 🥶 Was it windy? Of course. 💨 Was it muddy? Too right. 🤨 But everyone agreed, our volunteering today has left us all with a great sense of achievement and the realisation that we’ve contributed to the local environment and sustainability. 🍀🌿 Here’s to doing even more good on our next outing! #GreenPower #CPRE #sustainability #hedgerow #countryside #volunteering
