🚨 Supply Teaching Crisis in Wales: Progress Too Slow 🚨 The latest report from the Senedd’s Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee highlights a concerning shortfall in the availability of supply teachers across Wales. Schools are sometimes left with no choice but to rely on unqualified staff to cover absences, which can impact the quality of pupils’ education. Key findings include: 📌 Ongoing challenges in rural and Welsh-medium education. 📌 Gaps in data on teacher absences and the effectiveness of hiring frameworks. 📌 Delays in rolling out the National Supply Pool for Wales. While the Welsh Government has taken steps to address these issues, progress has been too slow, and the lack of robust monitoring means there’s little clarity on the impact of their efforts. The Committee calls for urgent action to ensure qualified, motivated, and well-compensated supply teachers are available to all schools. 📢 Read more:
