While nobody can really predict the future, we can try, based on scenarios and current data. So to help shape our strategy for supporting businesses, we recently produced a report quantifying the potential economic impact of the energy transition for Scotland. David Rennie, our Head of Low Carbon Energy, takes a look and outlines the key findings 👇 #EnergyTransition #Economy

This week Glasgow played host to Space-Comm Expo Scotland, one of the biggest space industry events in Europe, and its first time in Scotland 🤩 Scotland's space industry is booming, with recent data showing that the number of space-related companies here rose 25% in a year 🚀 So there was no better way to celebrate our thriving sector and hosting such an event than with the news that founder of AstroAgency and Director of Space Scotland, Daniel Smith, was appointed Scotland's Space Envoy. Announcing the appointment at the Expo, Business Minister, Richard Lochhead, said: "The creation of the Space envoy role is another indication of how quickly the sector is growing and of how importantly the Scottish Government regards its contribution to the economy. "The Scottish Government has an ambition to capture £4 billion of the global space market and Daniel Smith’s entrepreneurial background will help Scottish businesses forge strategic partnerships and identify new opportunities." Commenting on his appointment, Daniel added: "I’m excited to help connect Scotland’s commercial space players with business opportunities overseas. With Europe-leading technology, Scotland has the technical competence, as well as a sustainable strategic vision, to play an expanding role in the global space economy." #Space #Growth

Aberdeen-based HonuWorx aims “to change the game for underwater robotics” when it comes to inspection, maintenance and repair, after securing a seven-figure investment 👏 The firm, which is developing an all-electric 'mothership' submarine that will transport and deploy remotely operated vehicles for subsea inspection and maintenance, sees huge opportunity arising from the 'explosive growth' in offshore wind and resulting increase in underwater assets. The firm also has huge expansion plans, hoping to triple its current team of 12 in the next three years and is targeting over £30 million of additional investment. We were delighted to support this ambitious and innovative business alongside our co-investment partners. #Innovation #Investment
