About us
We are a charitable trust with the ambition to inspire a generation of confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic sailors as well as positively impact young peoples lives through sailing. Cleaning a beach to send someone to sea As a way of saying thank you, venturers on our offshore sailing expeditions are encouraged to raise funds, not to pay for their own place, which is covered by their sponsor, but to help send someone else to sea. Tom who was on this year's expedition, and who was sponsored by Team Maybe 2023, is doing a sponsored beach clean. He's already raised £400, so needs just £200 more to reach his £600 target. Please support him at https://lnkd.in/e5-sPnzB #roselandyouthsailingtrust #ryst #sailing #sailingcornwall #youngpeoplesailing #beachclean #beachcleancornwall #stopplasticpollution

Bank holiday Sunday’s Percuil Regatta was once again a lovely event, with several generations of several families all out sailing. With the wind forecast to increase by lunchtime it was decided to go ahead straight away and shorten the course to just one round if necessary. The wind increased early and, with wind over tide, it became quite rough in St Mawes Bay, requiring five safety boats out on the course. After the first round, the Race Officer shortened the course for the dinghy classes, allowing the larger boats, Ajax’s, Rustler 24’s and Shrimpers to continue for a second round. A big thank you to the safety crews for keeping everyone safe. You can see some great photos on Falmouth Sailing’s Facebook page. Onshore, meanwhile, the cream teas and cakes were selling like - well, hot cakes – all in aid of raising funds for RYST’s Schools programme. Many thanks to Rodda’s for again generously donating their irresistible clotted cream to the cause. #roselandyouthsailingtrust #ryst #cornishcharity

Two original paintings donated by local artist Yvonne Fuller have raised £1,300 for the Trust. At an auction held at the close of this year’s St Mawes Sailing Club’s Junior Race Week on Friday 23 August, Paul and Carolyn Lowenstein’s generous winning bid exceeded the guide price by £300. The beautiful watercolours, which are scenes of Junior Race Week 2021, had been on display at Waterside Gallery, St Mawes. Said RYST volunteer Juliette Leach: “A really big thank you to Yvonne for donating her paintings, to Amanda of Waterside Gallery for displaying them, to Paul and Carolyn for their generous winning bid and to everyone else who took part in the auction. We were all of us delighted that so much was raised.” The funds will help a new generation of children and young people in Cornwall experience the joy of sailing, building attitudes and skills of value throughout their lives. #roselandyouthsailingtrust #ryst #sailing #sailingcornwall#cornwall #cornwallcoast #cornishcharity #sailingcharity #artauction

Acclaimed local artist Yvonne Fuller has kindly donated two beautiful paintings to raise money for the Trust. There’s still time to snap them up, but you’ll have to be quick. The watercolours, which are two scenes of St Mawes Sailing Club’s Junior Sail Training Race Week 2021, have been on display in the Waterside Gallery, St Mawes for sale by sealed bid, with offers invited in excess of £500 per painting or £900 for both. Now the paintings have been transferred to St Mawes Sailing Club, where the winner/s will be decided during this year’s Race Week prize-giving ceremony on Friday 23 August at 6pm. But there’s a twist: after determining the highest bid/s, there will be a further auction to invite new offers, the aim being to raise as much as possible in support of our programmes. You can view the paintings at the Sailing Club and submit your bid to the Waterside Gallery. Or you can join us at the prize-giving ceremony on Friday 23 August at 6pm and take part in the auction. Either way you’ll be helping a new generation of children and young people in Cornwall experience the joy of sailing, building attitudes and skills that will help them throughout their lives. #roselandyouthsailingtrust #sailingcornwall #sailing #cornwallsailing #ryst

The Trust is sending 10 more young people on an adventure this summer aboard 57-ft ketch Helen Mary R for 10 days from 25 July to 3 August 2024. As usual venturers are funded through the generosity of local organizations and individuals. Thank you to Flushing Sailing Club, who are sending a young person to sea for the third time. Flushing Sailing Club is a truly amazing, flourishing sailing club running the finest yacht racing in the port of Falmouth. Founded in 1921 for the benefit of Flushing residents, the club commands stunning and panoramic views of the inner Falmouth Harbour and the reaches of the Penryn River. David Mitchell says: “Flushing Sailing Club is delighted to again sponsor a youngster on a voyage at sea. It has been a pleasure to host presentations at the Club by the young people we sponsored - Rosie in 2022 and Will in 2023 – hearing how the expeditions have built confidence and opened new horizons for them. We fully support the involvement of youngsters in sailing and hope it goes well this year.” #roselandyouthsailingtrust #ryst #sailing #sailingcornwall #cornwall #cornishcharity #cornwallsailing #sailingvoyage #sailingexpedition #flushingsailingclub

The Trust is sending 10 more young people on an adventure this summer aboard 57-ft ketch Helen Mary R for 10 days from 25 July to 3 August 2024. As usual venturers are funded through the generosity of local organizations and individuals. We'd like to say a huge thank you to Ana Navarro Fisher, who ran the Brighton Marathon on 7 April 2024 and raised £1700 for the Trust, including enough to fund a place for a venturer in the 2024 Offshore Sailing expedition. She says: "Back in 2016 when I was 17, I was lucky enough to have been sponsored by RYST to participate in the Tall Ships race from Lisbon to Cadiz. I remember going to Lisbon feeling sick to my stomach and telling my mum that I couldn't do it. By the end of the trip, I was absolutely gutted to be leaving and cried. It's an experience that I still cherish eight years later and one that I hope many more people can do." #roselandyouthsailingtrust #ryst #sailing #sailingcornwall #cornwall #cornishcharity #cornwallsailing #sailingvoyage #sailingexpedition
