A year ago, I was on holiday when I got that dreaded notification: my access to HubSpot had been deactivated.
- Pro tip: always set up your HubSpot email notifications to catch the important stuff.
In RevOps, we know process. Deactivating the Super Admin is a clear sign redundancy was looming. Minutes later, a Slack message landed, asking me to attend an super important 15-minute meeting the next day with my “boss.” I replied with, “Sure, I am looking forward to our first ever 1-1.”
I was three months short of full redundancy, which meant I was staring at just two weeks’ severance and definitely no gold watch.
But, I LOVE a good game, and I always play to WIN. So, I drafted my resignation letter and scheduled it to land in their inbox at 9:00 the next day.
Resigning gave me three months’ notice and three months’ salary, enough time to make my next move on my terms. That “important” 15-minute meeting? Cancelled. I spent the next three months on gardening leave, planting the seeds of what would become RevOdyssey.
The lesson? Know your process, stay calm, and you’ll always come out on top.
