South West Net Zero Hub are looking for potential suppliers to support a number of local authorities in the South West with Local Area Energy planning. A Local Area Energy Plan uses technical evidence on the whole energy system, as well as non-technical factors, to identify the changes needed to transition an area's energy system to net zero, within a timeframe, in a cost-effective and integrated way. The Hub is working with local authorities to lay the foundations for Local Area Energy planning and net zero delivery, and we are inviting suppliers to register for a tender to support this work. 🏆 We think 2025 will be the year of the heat pump. It needs to be. Unfortunately - ambition and actual achievements. Why? Read on ⬇️ 🥺 As Damon Blakemore has pointed to here, the targets being set for performance on heat pumps are not good enough. 📋 There is a paper currently available for you to read through from central government, we've added it into the link below ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️. This consultation paper is open until 25th March 2025 and you really must have an input if you are interested in issues like Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) on heat pumps. 🔥 If you care about the issue of controls which are fudging up the running of pumps. 🛠️ If you think installation and running of pumps should be made easier. 🧌 If you think controls should work with heat pump systems not turn them into dumb on off devices. £ These tweaks could be saving the UK millions of pounds and reducing our carbon footprint. 🗣️ It shouldn't take lone voices like Damon Blakemore, Heat Geek and Nathan Gambling to highlight changes that the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero need to hear. 🙏🏻 So each one of you, with influence experience and knowledge. 🗓️ Please submit to the open consultation before March 25th.
