It has recently been Anti-Bullying week in the UK in an attempt to reduce and eradicate bullying. So what is bullying? 🤔 According to the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the definition is: “The repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can be physical, verbal or psychological. It can happen face-to-face or online.” ➡️ So the key words are ‘intentional’, ‘repetitive’, ‘hurting’ and ‘imbalance of power’. Young children especially can use the word ‘bullying’ quite loosely to mean that they have fallen out with someone or they didn’t get their own way. This can make it tricky to take things seriously when they actually are being bullied – a bit like ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’. However, it really is key to approach bullying accusations seriously and with action. This will help to keep your relationship with your child strong and positive. Use the four key words to ascertain whether your child’s treatment is bullying or just growing pains. Here are some steps you can take if you suspect your child is being bullied: https://lnkd.in/euMqqx49 #AntiBullying #Bullying #RedBirdTutoring #BuildingConfidence #SupportiveLearning

We are all teachers and know the pressure on a school to do well. Results matter and it’s hard to work with thirty-ish individuals in class to set their own targets. But at Red Bird, our tutors have the capacity to work with individuals to ascertain how they learn best, help them to set their own actions and talk to them about what is best for them. Reading before going to bed is part of a bedtime routine for a lot of children and research suggests that reading puts us in the right frame of mind for sleep, allowing us to get a more uninterrupted and refreshing sleep. We are immersed in a text and it allows us to help train and slow down our thoughts. Have a look at this article from Headspace to see how we could all benefit from reading an actual book or listening to audio before bed: https://lnkd.in/efyCw5iF #Reading #ReadingForSchool #Fiction #RedBirdTutoring

We give our tutors experience in year groups they may not have previously worked in. We’ve always advocated teaching a wide spread of year groups in schools. A teacher’s knowledge of where a child has come from and where they are going is vital. It helps tutors look at learners’ individual learning journeys and meet each one exactly where they are. Create a brighter future for your child. Engage with our expert-led tutoring for personalised learning experiences. 📞 023 9435 0133 📩 [email protected] 💻 redbirdtutoring.com #NewLearning #RedBirdTutoring #BuildingConfidence #SupportiveLearning

This is further down our "why read fiction" list for a reason, because it is a means to an end. Unfortunately, the study in minute detail of a text can definitely undermine the enjoyment of reading, but it has to be done to move forward, so here we are. There is no doubt in my mind, that reading in KS2 and KS3, greatly affects your chances of getting a pass or above in both the Literature and Language exams and I imagine it has a huge impact on the other reading and writing-based subjects such as History and Psychology. #Reading #ReadingForSchool #Fiction #RedBirdTutoring

Why is reading fiction good for kids? For knowledge! There are so many times that references in books have had me scurrying to Google to find out more and often, a rabbit hole of unknowns have been discovered. My head is full of a lot of knowledge that I attribute to reading. Contextual knowledge, archaic language, social and historical references can all come from reading. It makes you a part of a shared culture that other readers share. Making sure you are a role model for your children is important, buy and borrow books and make them a part of your life. And for more reasons why we should all read fiction, take a look here: https://lnkd.in/euSQiP-M #Reading #ReadingForSchool #Fiction #RedBirdTutoring
