📢 What your College is doing for you On behalf of our members, in the past two weeks. ⬇️ ✅ We submitted our response to the 10 Year Health Plan consultation, making the case that general practice must be at its centre. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eUGqM4sj ✅ We secured agreement from Government to overhaul the NHS Long-Term Workforce Plan - with the help of nearly 10,000 GPs who signed our open letter to the Health Secretary calling for this. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e9vHcyZM ✅ We wrote to The Daily Telegraph making clear that more emphasis on general practice in the Long Term Workforce Plan is positive, but that it must also focus more on retention. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e6At2ZBm ✅ We appeared at the Health Select Committee where College Chair Kamila Hawthorne outlined how the Government can't meet its commitment to move care into the community without investing in general practice. ✅ We hosted our UK Council meeting - and Devolved Council and Faculty board meetings around the country - discussing key issues for members, such as assisted dying, the Care Quality Commission and private general practice. ✅ We called for a pause in routine CQC inspections in general practice in England and an end to one word ratings, writing to the Minister with responsibility for primary care explaining our rationale ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/erTSDPqY ✅ We met with the General Practitioners Committee of the BMA to discuss key issues facing GPs across the UK, including employment challenges and contractual discussions. ✅ We submitted our draft submission to the next round of the Covid Inquiry, highlighting the vital role GP teams played in the Covid vaccination rollout. ✅ We helped to secure amendments to the new National Planning Policy Framework which will mean local authorities will be required to plan for a broader range of public service health infrastructure needs (including GP surgeries) when considering proposals for new housing development. ✅ We secured coverage on the BBC Online and Sky News responding to the latest NICE guidelines on tirzepatide and the impact it could have on general practice and patients. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e8D-Qhjh ✅ We featured in the The Telegraph and Daily Express highlighting the pressures rising winter illness causes in general practice and offering advice for patients. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eaQQyxWz
