Last month, our founder Steven Fuller joined an inspiring event at LSEG, organized by Kalina Tomova of WomenWiseData, to mark Women in Tech Week and Black History Month UK. Steven shared the mission of Race in STEM and the importance of community, belonging, and authentic representation in the workplace. The event featured a powerful panel focusing on fostering accountability, amplifying underrepresented voices, and bridging the gap between mentorship and sponsorship. Global Community Director - Race in STEM (Part of The IN GROUP) | Educational Governor | Global Facilitator | Speaker
**NETWORK** Yesterday I was invited by Kalina Tomova of WomenWiseData to speak at LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) for a collaborative event for Women in Tech Week and Black History Month. The message was clear. 'Steve can you provide a 5-10 minutes talk on what you do and what Race in STEM is all about, and how it links to Black History Month UK' I accepted the challenge and it was a great evening showcasing community and networking at its best! Triona O'Keeffe moderated a great panel including Marilyn N. A. Manivannan (Mani) Janakiraman GCB.D and Sanjeevan Bala who touched on discussion points around belonging, representation and how to really be authentic within the workplace by listening to the voices that might not normally be heard on a day to day basis. I have three questions for everyone to consider: 1 - How are you creating a culture of belonging for all 2 - Is your company building diverse and accountable leaders 3 - Are you building equity in the entire employee experience There is a big difference between mentorship and sponsorship which was summed up perfectly by Widade Deguerre BE INSPIRED Akua Opong CITP MBCS FRSA Nicholas HillMariam Naskidashvili James Cox The IN GroupNick BaxterJames Lawson Sarah Hepworth Jennifer Thomas
