Why have one banner when you can have two? Whilst many businesses slow down their activity for the summer and need to pick up momentum when September begins, Purplelily Design has not stopped being a busy bee! Last week, alongside managing various other tasks, I assisted the Green Party HQ in creating nine leaflets for use across the UK. I also created an A5 leaflet for the Eastleigh area that will be sent out using the Royal Mail Freepost service. I have almost 30 years of experience in print, but this was my first time using Royal Mail Freepost, a service they are legally required to provide to all political parties. There is a strict checking process that must be followed, and deadlines for elections are always tight. Weekend posts provide a glimpse into everyone's activities on Saturdays and Sundays, allowing us to share our interests outside of work. For many years, I volunteered in roles that educated people about nature or rescue animals, and I still spend much time talking to people about these things I value greatly. I have run Purplelily Design based on my values for the past 18 years, and its roots are firmly planted in a love of nature. 🌺 My values also influence who I will design for and who I will not, It has taken a long time to get there and I fully appreciate that employed designers (as I once was) cannot always be so discerning. It's a privileged position to be in, and another privilege, often taken for granted, is the right to vote. This is why I am a Co-chair and Election Agent for the Green Party of England and Wales in #Eastleigh I'm also proud to design for our local team and have created campaign literature for #Southampton in previous years. Some people are uncomfortable discussing politics in business, but for some, politics is business. This month, many individuals and organisations will be passionately advocating for the causes they believe in - this includes charities and NGOs as well as political parties. My fellow Co-chair, Ben Parry, is standing as the Green Party's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Eastleigh and below is a postcard that I designed this week.
