🌱 On the latest episode of PLANT CEO, I enjoyed chatting with Tina Newman, author of the delightful "Vivi the Supervegan" children's book series. Tina's vegan children inspired her to create empowering stories that teach kids about living compassionately, sustainably, and without exploiting animals for food. We discussed vegan children's challenges, like wearing stickers identifying their plant-based meals at non-vegan schools. Tina hopes her books can counter the normalisation of animal exploitation that's so prevalent in schools, media, and society. While some parents buying the books are vegan or vegetarian, others purchase them as gifts for vegan friends and family. Tina aims to gently plant "seeds" about animal rights in a child-friendly way through her writing. She shared a powerful interaction from her book launch where a slaughterhouse worker, initially disagreeing with some points, found the book thought-provoking - especially seeing his wife's emotional reaction. Tina hopes it plants a seed that eventually allows him to question the animal industry he works in. Overall, Tina wants to provide a compassionate alternative viewpoint to typical children's literature that portrays animal use as normal and unquestioned. Tune in to hear this insightful discussion on empowering the next generation toward a kinder, more sustainable world. #childrenbooks #vegan #animalwelfare Lindsay W., James Pickering Watch now or listen via audio: https://lnkd.in/eftDw8wr https://lnkd.in/eZSYEQ3P

It's incredibly energising to interview passionate young entrepreneurs like Elin Roberts and Christopher Kong, who are making significant strides in their exciting entrepreneurial journeys. While I have tremendous respect for experienced founders, there's something special about the contagious drive and fresh perspectives of those blazing new trails. In our latest episode, we explore the world of plant-based proteins through the lens of their company, Better Nature Tempeh. Their mission? Introduce tempeh, a traditional Indonesian food made from fermented soybeans, to the Western market as a new protein category. 🌱 High in protein and with a firm, dense texture, tempeh offers a unique and nutritious alternative to meat. But this venture is more than just a business – it's a passion project rooted in personal experiences and a commitment to sustainability. Elin introduced Chris to a vegan lifestyle during their university days. This sparked a journey that led Chris to meet Dr. A. Driando Ahnan-Winarno, an Indonesian food scientist with a deep love for his homeland's culinary traditions. Joined by nutritionist Fabio Rinaldo, they embarked on a mission to bring tempeh to the masses. Today, Better Nature Tempeh offers a range of organic and pre-marinated tempeh products, with major listings in supermarkets across the UK and Germany. But their impact extends beyond the products – they've achieved B-Corp certification and donate 1% of revenue to charitable causes in Indonesia. In this engaging episode, the founders share their insights on building a successful plant-based company, navigating challenges, and the importance of sustainability in their mission. Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur in the plant-based space or simply curious about this fascinating protein alternative, this episode is a must-listen. Great to read about the growth of Spain's favourite plant-based company, Heura Foods, expanding into new markets like France and the UK (now available in Waitrose & Partners). Congratulations to co-founders Bernat Ananos Martinez and Marc Coloma on raising €40 million in new funding - an impressive achievement signalling the strength of the plant-based market opportunity. For more insights, watch the PLANT CEO episode featuring an interview with Bernat Ananos Martinez: https://lnkd.in/ewFQvEfV This latest raise for Heura, whose products include chickpea-based meat alternatives, will likely help drive further expansion and innovation. As consumer demand grows globally for delicious and sustainable plant-based options, brands like Heura with fresh capital can continue disrupting the traditional meat industry. I'm excited to see what new products, partnerships, and countries Heura enters next. Their success highlights the growing appetite among consumers to move towards plant-based for both health and environmental reasons. Kudos to the Heura team on this milestone! Has anyone else tried Heura's products yet? Would love to hear your thoughts! #plantbased #futureoffood #heurafoods https://lnkd.in/eitMUgJ4

I just interviewed the Director of 'You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment' for PLANT CEO. I'm looking for a film student, ideally, someone who has already seen the series on Netflix, who can help put together a trailer for the episode. You will get to see the interview before anyone else. Will be paid in gratitude 😀
