With a room of people representing the whole food and farming supply chain, the purpose is clear. We all have a role to play to connect the public with farmers, food and farming with nature. In a week where farming has led the news and dominated the mainstream agenda, Helen Maiden reports on what was an emotive day, with farmers from far and wide descending on London in their thousands. Touching on the power of visual storytelling and how in the fight for family farms, bringing clarity to a complex issue boiled down to showcasing those who are most affected. "A picture says a thousand words, and the images of the children on their tractors has done just that. They have humanised the issue, showcased the stakes, and drawn attention to the wide reaching, generational impact of these proposed changes. The children in those photos are the reason we fight. They are the reason we showed up." Helen said: "Standing shoulder to shoulder with my mum, mother-in-law, sister, and nieces, representing two family farms, I felt proud to be there."

We had the pleasure of attending yesterdays British Guild of Agricultural Journalists harvest service and lunch. Affectionately termed ‘GAJ’ as pointed out by Thomas Martin our guest speaker who is affectionately known himself at ‘Farmer Tom’, it was a celebration of all things agricultural communications. It was discussed how we all have a role to play - PR and journalists - to tell the right story for our industry and portray the farm to fork story and the many facets and nuances that are intrinsically weaved through our special sector.
