So we've come full circle and day 12 of our 12 days of Christmas is celebrating December - the final month of our 10th Birthday year. We've finished on such a high, with the announcement that we've acquired Sowga to further strengthen our M&E service offering. These past 12 months have been incredible - a true testament to our team's dedication and talent. For all the awards, for all the initiatives, for all the articles - none of it would be possible without their tireless work.

November was all about networking - we hosted not one but TWO incredible networking events! Our Tomorrow Meets Today event was a fantastic celebration of the new talent entering the FM industry, and our commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders in FM. "Not your average networking event" as one participant described it, TMT was about combining the vision and energy of the future generation of leaders with the wisdom and expertise of the current generation. Collaboration, Creativity, Connection and Celebration. And our Networking for Change event was a call to action around Net Zero, Social Action, and the role every one of us plays in driving change through innovative thinking and collaboration. The way we think about space has changed. Work spaces, leisure spaces, retail spaces - the way we think about and use these spaces has shifted over the past few years. The lines between them are less defined, and they each have to work harder than ever before to meet user needs. As a result, the FM industry has had to think more creatively about the services we deliver. Luckily, creativity is something that comes naturally to us at Pareto. We're used to thinking outside the box when it comes to meeting our clients' needs. With every project we take on - from workspace design to energy management to CAFM integration - we take at each space and its unique challenges and then design the bespoke solutions required to ensure that space can meet its potential. We assess your goal, the needs of your end user, the space requirements, and the available technologies to create the optimum result. That's just part of our DNA at Pareto.

Black History Month was our focus for October. As part of our drive for diversity, listening to Black voices and finding ways to spotlight Black talent is core to what we're about when building a more diverse FM sector. We've always been committed to this - which is why we're the only FM provider to have a Black Lives Matter statement, and why we actively raise awareness around Sickle Cell Disease and encourage all our employees to take part in our blood donor initiative - which gives them dedicated time off to donate blood. We were very grateful to COREcruitment Ltd for running an excellent Black History Month event at the Barbican Centre, with powerful speakers from across a range of industries. Our Operations Director, Colin Kimber and Senior Account Manager, Andrea Donaldson-Smith, both vocal advocates for greater Diversity and Inclusion represented Pareto at the event, which was hosted by Gabrielle Austen-Browne. October also saw us marking World Mental Health Day, World Menopause Day, and Dyslexia Awareness Month, as we continue to try and build an inclusive workplace that accommodates and supports all our employees to thrive.

And on the ninth day of Christmas... September saw the fourth year of #FM10 - our free, virtual initiative to get people to participate in an activity that brings them joy and a sense of accomplishment. We had people enter with activities like volunteering, reading, mindfulness, and more! September was also National Inclusion Week. Inclusion is a core value for us at Pareto and National Inclusion Week is an important moment for us to stop and take stock of what we're doing to ensure we're creating the most inclusive workplace possible. This year, that's included increasing support and awareness around autism and neurodiversity, endometriosis and menopause, allyship and mental health, as well as starting up our inclusion cafes to ensure there are safe spaces available for all our staff.

I think we're still reeling from August - where we received a massive eight nominations for the IWFM Impact Awards - across multiple categories including positive climate action, product or service development, collaboration, change management, and workplace experience. It was a true celebration of a month. We also celebrated Allyship Day - our Operations Director Colin Kimber is co-chair of the cross-industry network, LGBT+ in Facilities Management (LGBT+ in FM), who published an Allies Guide to mark the day. We were extremely proud to be able to help inform the guide, and will continue to give our support to LGBT+in FM in any way we can! August also brought a really special surprise as one of our client sites was honoured with a Banksy! Workers at Zoological Society of London (ZSL) arrived one morning to discover Banksy had included them in a series of animal-themed installations around the city, so of course, our team rushed to do what they could to preserve the piece. Truly thrilling!

Compliance? We've got you covered. Our bespoke Planned Preventative Maintenance regimes take into account the assets that require maintenance to a certain standard and regulation. That means that all your statutory compliance issues are handled. Both Pareto and Sowga are experts in delivering PPM, and this partnership highlights the importance of preventative maintenance that's tailored to your needs, rather than trying to use a one-size-fits-all strategy. Fire safety, electrical safety, gas safety, f-gas (refrigeration), water safety/hygiene, working at height/access safety - you can tick them all off your to-do list, and have the confidence that we'll create a PPM strategy that supports your goals.

There was no quiet summer period for us - in July ramped up our focus on sustainability. We marked plastic-free July by further reducing our single plastics use and introducing a number of reusable alternatives throughout our sites. We also added 5 new Electric Vehicles (EVs) to our Pareto fleet with one of our client partners! If that wasn't enough, we celebrated World Nature Conservation Day by celebrating our partnership with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), supporting their work through sustainable timber procurement, creating mud shoes for the conservation team, and building transport crates for partula snails to travel back to Polynesia. We continued to demonstrate our thought leadership across the FM sector, as 10 of our fantastic team members were featured in Facilitate Magazine, and another three in PFM magazine. But the jewel in the crown was winning Company of the Year at the WeAreTheCity Awards - a significant recognition of our commitment to fostering women's careers and development in the FM industry. We take immense pride in our commitment to diversity and inclusion in an industry where representation is crucial. This award is a testament to our incredible team's hard work, dedication, and innovation.

Neglecting your HVAC system is a costly mistake. They're more expensive to run and place extra stress on equipment so minor repairs easily turn into costly problems. But more importantly, a neglected HVAC system will drastically reduce air quality in your office building - that can be harmful to allergy sufferers, but in fact, decreased oxygen levels impact everyone in your office - it reduces focus, productivity, cognitive function, and overall health. Sowga's full lifecycle services for HVAC systems, from design to maintenance, ensure reliability and energy efficiency. That's why we know this partnership will be so beneficial to our fantastic clients.
