Life is what you bake it. We've been busy working on a new campaign for The Silver Spoon Company, a brand that’s in almost half of all UK kitchen cupboards... Delivered across TV, Digital and OOH, we celebrate and showcase the many moments of joy that baking brings, creating an uplifting message that is brought to life with the line, ‘Life is what you bake it.’ Centred around a handed-down Victoria sponge recipe, the campaign tells a story through time, and the hero film ‘Victoria’s Sponge’ depicts the baking of one cake recipe across 50 years backed by a remake of the classic Kinks track, “Victoria.” The new campaign accompanies the redesign of the Silver Spoon packaging that landed in-store earlier this year. Heritage packaging designs make a cameo appearance in the campaign, as we delved through the archives to uncover previous designs. The film spot was directed by Bullion Productions @Abel Rubinstein whose Life In Love series is currently airing on ITV, and will run alongside OOH. The OOH creative features the same cast of characters and sums up the powerful memories created by afternoons spent baking in the kitchen. Lauren Crawford, Home Baking Brands Controller from Silver Spoon said: “Baking is a much loved hobby in the UK, but life is so busy sometimes consumers forget the joy of baking.. Our brief to Ourselves — B Corp Creative Studio was to develop a comms platform with longevity, and in response they have developed a powerful creative campaign that will inspire Britain to create more moments of baking joy.” Aaron Howard, Founder, Ourselves added: “We tend to think of Silver Spoon as two sugars in a cup of tea - when in fact it’s always been a key part of baking for over 50 years now too. I distinctly remember that bag being pulled from the cupboard when my mum would make a crumble on a Sunday. We’re feeling pretty proud of Ourselves. We are now B Corp certified! From day one, we’ve been all about making good work, with good people, whilst doing some good along the way. Becoming B Corp felt like a natural next step for us, to reaffirm what sort of agency we want to be — and to hold us to account for our actions. We’re excited to be part of this growing community and what the future may hold. Onward!
We’re celebrating our B Corp certification at Ourselves — B Corp Creative Studio by raising a glass (well, a can) with you 🍻 Contrary to popular belief, our best ideas don’t happen down the pub a couple of pints in. They happen when we’ve got an amazing brief and a clear head. So we partnered with another B Lab UK, LOAH, to bring you this low-alcohol Blood Orange IPA. Blue sky drinking? Hell yeah. The illustration on the can was inspired by the values we hold in our little agency, and was created for us by the lovely Clara Jonas from down ‘ere in wilds of Cornwall. We're sending some of these out to a bunch of awesome people in brilliant businesses. And if you fancy a can (they are fancy cans), just fill in the form in the first comment and we’ll send you one of these limited-edition beauts. While supplies last. Aaron Howard HATES this photo 😂 It’s from when we first launched Ourselves, which turns 5 today. 🍾 We’re very proud of our little agency. Over these five years, we’ve had to privilege of working with household names like Selfridges, AB World Foods Ltd and GAIL's Bakery to the champions of sustainability and ethical practices like Vivobarefoot and Pact Coffee. Each partnership has been a testament to our commitment to keeping things uncomplicated, ensuring our creative process is as straightforward and effective as our outcomes. We’ve also been able to support 8 non-profit partners to amplify their causes with award-winning ideas, campaigns and — sometimes — cold hard cash to do good stuff with. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. Aaron might have wanted to take a different photo though, but that’s it.

Bakers and bankers don’t normally have a lot in common. But for Real Bread Week, it was all about raising dough to save independent bakers. Times are tough right now — far too many formerly thriving local bakeries are facing financial uncertainty thanks to costs rising on everything including energy, ingredients, rent and wages. Having a cost of living crisis doesn’t make it any easier either. The team at Ourselves are doing what we do best to help The Real Bread Campaign call on banks, bankers, and the rest of the financial sector for their support. We created a walker campaign in the heart of the financial district of London to ask bankers to support our bakers, with the aim to raise plenty of dough. We believe it's good to use our skills to support social and environmental projects that matter to us’ And we believed The Real Bread Campaign deserved to be heard, so got stuck in there with this ‘pro bono’ project. #probono #creative #creativeagency #bread
