It's #InternationalMigrantsDay 💜 International Migrants Day shines a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of millions of migrants around the world. People on the move are powerful drivers for innovation, development, and knowledge. According to the United Nations, 2024 has seen record levels of displacement worldwide, so acknowledging the positive impact migrants can have on the economy and labour market has never seemed more important. We believe celebrating where we come from and encouraging others to take pride in their heritage is key to driving equality, diversity and inclusion across One Manchester. At our recent Cultural Day, we created a heritage map for colleagues to share where their roots are, and it allows us to see just how much immigration has shaped our organisation. Colleagues were also able to learn about new cultures through various activities like hair braiding, henna, and clothing and musical workshops. • 🍵 We've really enjoyed spending time with our customers at our winter social events over the last few weeks. Our winter social events are completely free and aim to provide customers with a warm, welcoming space to get creative, enjoy a warm meal on us, and access support from our friendly teams. Each session features one activity from the list below: 🎉 Bingo 🧣 Macramé 🎵 Music and singing 🖌️ Crafting To make sure these events are accessible to all, they're hosted at our neighbourhood hubs, making them easy to get to and enabling us to reach lots of local people within our communities. These events are also important in making sure our customers feel heard. We understand many prefer to speak to us in person, and these sessions are the perfect chance to do just that. With a range of colleagues, including Neighbourhood Officers, on hand, our customers will be able to come to us with questions about money advice, energy-saving tips, tackling and reporting damp and mould, or anything else they might need support with this winter. We're got plenty more events taking place this week. So, if you know someone who'd benefit from one of our events, head over to our website 🔗 https://bit.ly/4ikwOjs

  • It's #WorldAIDSDay ❣️ World AIDS Day is a global movement looking to unite people in the fight against HIV and AIDS. According to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, there are 107,000 people living with HIV in the UK, including 5150 people who are undiagnosed. Today (and everyday), we celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of the communities most affected, and fight to create a future where HIV doesn’t stand in the way of anyone’s life 🤝 One Manchester is a proud member of HouseProud North West, a regional network helping social housing providers to improve the way we engage, support, and deliver services to our LGBTQ+ communities and colleagues. In collaboration with other organisations within our network, we've created a video for HouseProud North to raise awareness around how AIDS affects people worldwide 🌎 Find out more about our pledge 🔗 https://bit.ly/4gcxztl Jigsaw Homes Group Ltd MSV Housing Irwell Valley Homes Wythenshawe Community Housing Group Stockport Homes Group Onward Homes Plus Dane Housing

  • 🎇 We’ve set up six brand new Customer Panels to make sure our customers’ voices are heard and valued. Earlier this year, we asked our customers what topics and services they'd like to have an input into. We've used this feedback to set up these brand new panels to give our customers the chance to influence the services that matter to them. Our new panels will discuss topics including service charges, procurement and communication. At One Manchester it's really important to us that the voices of customers are heard and valued right across the organisation. We want customers to feel they’re listened to and that their voices matters – these new panels are really important in helping us achieve this. Panel members can get involved as little or as often as they like in a way that works for them. Know someone who might be interested? • Happy #InternationalMensDay 💜 To every father, brother, husband, son, boyfriend, colleague, and friend – thank you! International Men's Day celebrates the positive value men bring to the world. This year's theme looks to highlight positive male role models and raise awareness of men's wellbeing. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), three out of four people who take their own lives are men – highlighting just how important it is to talk about men's mental health and to encourage men to speak up. At One Manchester, we're celebrating this International Men's Day by hosting a series of workshops with a focus on male wellbeing and mental health for our colleagues. To all the men who make up One Manchester, we want to say thank you. Thank you for your hard work, thank you for the joy you bring, thank you for your dedication, and thank you for being you. To all the men out there who may be struggling, you're not alone. We've put together a list of resources across our city where you can access support 🔗 https://bit.ly/40NKKMz

  • We'd like to say a huge thank you to MSB Solicitors for their delivery of a Career Carousel event to St. Mary's Primary School (Moss Side), as part of their social value commitment to One Manchester 💜 It was incredible to see over 60 Year 5 pupils engage and show interest in different job roles and career paths. Opportunities like this are incredibly important in shaping and paving the future for the next generation. Social value is at the heart of every partnership One Manchester has. As an organisation with social value at the heart, it's our priority that every organisation we work with is doing their bit for local Manchester communities. It's been brilliant to see our partners take on this commitment to us with pride. A special thank you to Dominique Owens for organising the event 🤝 Find out more about what social value means to us 🔗 https://bit.ly/3UktsTm
