🎬 A two minute clip provides a glimpse of our incredible staff, working-behind-the scenes 24-7, at NHSL’s Flow Navigation Centre+Plus (FNC+Plus). 📞When patients access care through recommended routes, such as calling NHS 24, their cases are often directed to FNC+Plus. 🚑 Handling calls from sources including NHS 24, GPs, and the Scottish Ambulance Service, the team coordinates care by navigating patients to the most suitable services. This includes Hospital at Home, community respiratory care, and mental health services. 📈Since the Spring, nearly 5,000 patients have been routed to alternative supports – avoiding the need to go to hospital. 📚Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eEpfzUv6

❤️🩹 NHS Lanarkshire is leading the way in efforts to transform how unscheduled care is managed - with thousands of patients benefitting from a pioneering service. 🏥 As hospitals across the UK face well-publicised winter pressures, we are calling on the public to access care through the right channels – and lean on the expertise of a multi-skilled team, working behind-the-scenes 24-7, 365, to provide support at the most vulnerable points in people’s lives. 🖥️ Operating from a state-of-the-art control centre at our HQ, at Kirklands in Bothwell, the Flow Navigation Centre+Plus (FNC+Plus) is staffed by nurses, emergency consultants, ambulance staff and support personnel. Drawing on decades of diverse frontline experience, concentrated in one room, the team aims to provide faster responses, shorter hospital stays, and, wherever possible, care at – or closer to – home. 🚑 Since April almost 5,000 people have been routed to alternative supports – avoiding the need to go to hospital. 💬 Trudi Marshall, Interface Director, and Professor Jann Gardner, Chief Executive, say the pioneering team, the only one of its kind in scope and scale in the UK, has the potential to be ‘absolutely transformative’, particularly in helping to maintain hospital capacity for the most unwell. 👉However, its success depends on public cooperation – as the system only functions effectively when patients follow the correct pathways into care in the first instance. 🌎 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eEpfzUv6

Frontline health and social care staff can still book their winter vaccine appointment at: https://lnkd.in/ezpVfAC4 Frontline health and social care workers are eligible for both the flu and Covid-19 vaccines and it’s important to get vaccinated this winter to protect themselves and those around them including patients and their families. The flu and Covid vaccines are offered every year as the viruses change from year to year. This year's vaccines have been developed to provide the best possible protection against the viruses expected to circulate. This week the Scottish Ambulance Service provided support with a vaccine bus at Kirklands Hospital. Dr Chris Deighan, Executive Medical Director took the time to get his flu and Covid vaccines on site. Dr Deighan said: “Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and others and we’re pleased to see so many people in Lanarkshire coming forward to take up the offer. “Evidence shows that the flu virus changes over time and COVID-19 vaccine protection fades. The vaccinations offered this season can top up your protection against severe illness from flu and COVID-19. “Those that have not yet received their vaccines are strongly encouraged to come forward and make an appointment. We also advise checking our local arrangements as we have a range of vaccination sites and pop up clinics.” For more information and to book your appointment online visit: https://lnkd.in/ezpVfAC4
