Domestic transport accounts for almost a third of all greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. In a Net Zero Britain, how will we get around? This Government has put this question back in the spotlight, with changes to bus policy, and the budget’s money for walking and cycling infrastructure and a continued freeze in fuel duty. Read our latest blog by NPC's Policy Manager, James Somerville:
People want affordable, accessible public transport. Bus reform is a good place to start.

Anyone who cares about tackling climate change full stop, should be excited about this. We'll only cut our emissions if we involve people and design the right policies. I'm really pleased to be involved in the coalition working on this - really great work from the team at Climate Outreach!
An early Christmas present for everyone who cares about engaging and involving people in tacking climate change... the UK government has announced it will publish a Public Participation Strategy in 2025 as part of its net zero plans! The strategy will include: - how people will be supported to adopt new technologies - opportunities for public views to be considered in policy design - involving local communities and more vulnerable groups - ensuring the voice of disabled people is properly heard We can't wait to work with the government and others to help design a public engagement plan that's ambitious and inclusive, and allows everyone to play their part in the UK's climate story. We know climate minister Kerry McCarthy - Labour MP for Bristol East is committed to using effective public engagement in policy development and delivery. We're looking forward to working together to help flesh out government plans in the new year, and ensure the public participation schemes put in place are set up for long-term success.
