📢 Today, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, addressed the House of Commons on COP29, declaring that “Britain is back in the business of global climate leadership.” He also highlighted the Clean Power by 2030 plan and that it will create jobs in carbon capture and storage. ▪️The UK is solidifying its position as a global climate leader. This has been demonstrated by the Government’s recent funding commitment for carbon capture projects - the East Coast Cluster and HyNet - marking a crucial step forward in the development of large-scale CCUS clusters across the UK. ▪️In its recommendation to the UK Government, the National Energy System Operator (NESO) identifies CCUS as a key enabler for delivering Clean Power 2030, offering a flexible, secure and essential clean energy supply as we move towards a clean energy system.   ▪️CCUS has a role to play in providing low-carbon, dispatchable power to maintain a secure energy supply.
