  • FREE Hot Topics Clinic - January 2025 Inclusion healthcare addresses the needs of groups that are marginalised or socially excluded. This webinar will focus specifically on homelessness – the scale of the problem, its impact on health and consider how mainstream primary care can better support the most vulnerable in society. Homelessness in the UK has risen sharply since 2010, with over 13,000 households assessed as homeless by local councils in the past year. A record number of families are now living in temporary accommodation. Homelessness has a profound impact on health, with those affected experiencing worse physical and mental health, higher rates of chronic illness and disability, and significantly reduced life expectancy. One-third of these deaths result from treatable conditions such as COPD, stroke, and diabetes complications. In this free webinar, we will explore the shocking statistics linking homelessness and health, examine key health challenges faced by this population, and discuss the barriers they face in accessing healthcare. We will also share practical tips for providing effective care to individuals experiencing homelessness within mainstream primary care settings. The webinar will be led by GPs actively working in inclusion health and will feature insights from someone with lived experience of homelessness, addiction, and recovery. 🏠 Introduction to Inclusion Healthcare: Supporting People Experiencing Homelessness in Primary Care 📅 Tuesday 21st January 2025 ⌚ 8pm to 9pm Don't worry, the webinar will be available on demand if you miss the live event. • NEW BLOG: Subclinical Hypothyroidism - Think twice before testing or treating It's an incredibly common scenario which can often lead to cascades of further testing and sometimes treatment. But is it really necessary? Dr Rob Walker considers the evidence.
