It’s been a busy day here in Helsinki at Slush! Our CEO and founder Dominic Vergine just spoke on the ‘Green Growth Playbook’ Panel at the Climate Summit hosted by Lightrock, Transition and Extantia Joined by Ari Helgason, Partner at Transition; Torben Schreiter, Partner at Extantia; Kimberly Tan, Head Investment Group at GenZero; Christopher Steinau, Partner at Lightrock; and Saif Hameed, Founder and CEO of Altruistiq, Dominic discussed: - Green discounts rather than green premiums: Startups that can cut costs for potential customers, as well as helping them reach sustainability goals, will see incredible traction - The impact of deeptech: AI can help accelerate the path to net zero if we turn our attention to focused models around physics, biology and chemistry rather than LLMs - Fundraising: Looking to investment from other ecosystems can build your network and strengthen the foundations of your business as you grow This followed another panel on the AstraZeneca stage early today about how sustainable startups can drive change in industrial sectors. Dominic took the stage with James Cole, Chief Innovation Officer at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), Magnus R. Björsne, PhD, MBA, Assoc. Prof., CEO of AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, and Sara Hjortmar, Investment & Asset Manager at EIT InnoEnergy. Agile startups are bringing new solutions to long standing societal and environmental problems, but larger companies need to move quickly to partner with these businesses and keep up with the pace of innovation.
