🌟 AI in Adland: Opportunity or Overhaul? 🌟 Mobsta Ltd - Certified B Corp®'s Talent Crisis in Adland panel had a serious conversation about AI and its impact on the future of work. While some fear it could make parts of the our industry obsolete, others say we must collaborate with AI as this will enhance, not replace, our expertise. Here are the highlights: STANDOUT WORDS... 🎤 Sophie Lewis: "Creativity won’t be a thing that can be done as well or as originally by AI because it’s a reactive tool, not one that thinks about what doesn’t exist yet." 🎤 Marsha Jackson: "We need to go back to basics, ensuring diversity in hiring and training so that staff are agile enough to adapt to AI’s impact on the business. This way, we can balance the machine with the human to create a collaborative future." KEY TAKEAWAYS... 💡 Strategic Creativity Still Matters: Agencies must focus on high-level strategic partnerships and creativity that AI can't replicate. AI can handle tasks like media planning or even parts of creative execution. However, it's a reactive tool that builds on existing ideas, not something that generates original creativity. 💡 Flexibility and New Talent Models: The future could see smaller core teams supplemented by flexible, freelance talent. This approach, already gaining traction, may become the norm as agencies adapt to AI handling routine tasks. 💡 Agency Size: While large agencies have the power and resource to lean into the opportunities offered by custom LLM and the like. Smaller, agile agencies have the chance to maintain a close connection with their teams, fostering diverse talent and creating adaptable workforces that can thrive alongside AI. 💡 The Human Element: As AI transforms entry-level and repetitive tasks, the industry needs to balance technology with human insight, ensuring ethical and diverse outcomes while leveraging AI’s efficiencies. 🤖 The question isn’t whether AI will disrupt adland—it already is. The challenge is how we evolve to harness its potential without losing the uniquely human creativity and collaboration that define our work. 🔦 💬 🔦💬🔦 How do you see AI reshaping agencies?! 👇 #AI #Advertising #Creativity #FutureOfWork

This is WELL late but last month I got asked by LBBonline - Little Black Book for my opinion on the John Lewis & Partners Christmas ad. Do you know how long I've waited for that moment? I mean, honestly, I'm not even kidding; this was up there as one of my career highlights! I didn't offer any insight - I waffled on about Woolworths when I was 12. But the thought was there. TLDR: I loved the John Lewis ad this year. Hurrah for family. https://lnkd.in/egcfZ4jS

Last week our Talent Crisis in Adland panel highlighted something very encouraging: the four panelists, all leaders at the top of their field with decision-making power, expressed a clear commitment to driving change. With the first part of our conversation zooming in on evolving #values, here are the highlights: STANDOUT WORDS... 🎤 Rachel Forde: If adland doesn't do more to demonstrate a purpose driven culture then we won't retain talent. 🎤 Sophie Lewis: Agencies need to be more flexible with what we provide to both clients and employees. Especially as tech evolves and clients' needs change. Otherwise our workforce will just go away and frankly do something better paid, more flexible and more interesting. ON VALUES... 🌍 ✨ Two-thirds of Gen Z and Millennials prefer working for companies that demonstrate clear social impacts on the world. They're expecting different things to their predecessors and very much do demand a more purpose driven career and corporate culture. ON CARE... 💞 🤝 73% of employees in media and creative report burnout as a major concern. The impact is especially significant for our younger peers they're not only coping with the strain of the job but also the financial pressures of the cost of living. Caring about the health of our people is vital for sustaining them and supporting the long-term health of our industry. ON MONEY... 🤑 ⚖️ Most young people now stand by the idea that "you are not your work" and demand to be paid fairly. On the whole, adland underpays - it's a fact. "Creative agencies, for example, used to say that they'd pay people less for the privilege of working in a creative agency". The sooner we change this mentality and evolve the enumeration model, the sooner we'll stop losing talent to the likes of tech who pay double on entry. It's a difficult one to crack when the market is tough but if we don't we'll lose great people so we have to get the balance right. ON WAYS OF WORKING FLEXIBLY... 🤹♀️ ⚡ There remains a noticeable disconnect between senior leadership and the rest of the organisation on this issue but there's growing consensus that fractional leadership and more part-time work represent the future. "Traditionally the mentality was that you always have to be 'on' and waiting for something to happen and for you to fix it because you have to serve a client" "Presentism is dead. Fractional working and working across disciplines should be more encouraged. Gen Z and beyond want more flexibility because they're dynamic in their ambitions. Whether it's multiple jobs or side hustles or interests" "If you get fractional working right now, you're ahead of the game. It makes for better work when someone brings more than their job to the table" 🔦 💬 🔦💬🔦 Now we'd love to hear your thoughts! Is presentism really dead? Is fractional working the future? Do we need to evolve our renumeration models as an industry? #talentcrisisinadland #advertising #people #talent #brands #inhousing #media

Shout out time! It's been a while so let's go! I was going to write a post this afternoon talking about our 'Talent Crisis in Adland' breakfast panel yesterday where we were joined by the fantastically brilliant Marsha Jackson, Jane Stephenson, Sophie Lewis and Rachel Forde. What a morning! But the real point of this post is to big up the host on the day Sophie Cunningham and the brainchild of the event Juliana Proskourina-Barnett. So much effort went into making this such a superb event. Sophie was so capable asking the questions, and the perfect person to represent Mobsta Ltd - Certified B Corp®. And Juliana was epic in her tenacity to make this happen. The whole thing was just a joy to be part of and all down to them. I feel ridiculously lucky to work with them both. So here's to you, Sophie and Juliana; true Mobstars, through and through.

This morning we were privileged to be joined by a panel of brilliant cross-industry minds to explore some of the most challenging and inspiring considerations at a pivotal moment as we asked... Does the talent crisis in adland demand a fundamental shift in agency culture, business models and talent strategies? Thank you to our wonderful host Sophie Cunningham and our panellists Marsha Jackson, Jane Stephenson, Sophie Lewis and Rachel Forde for your brilliant insights, all the eye opening stats, and the brave industry predictions. Despite the train disruptions, floods, and fires, we did it and it really was a fantastic and gear shifting conversation. We only wish we had more time to continue the thought-provoking Q&A. If you were able to join us then thank you for your time and input. If you couldn’t make it then we’ll be sharing snippets and our key takeaways over the coming weeks as we continue to have this conversation. See you soon for more of the same! Thank you Mindshare for inviting the Mobsta Ltd - Certified B Corp® team to this year’s incredible #Huddle2024: Innovation for Good Growth. In the spirit of precision and accuracy our delightful (and possibly perfectly over-competitive!) off-huddle saw some very brave attendees pit themselves against the mega AFC Dunstable footballing superstars in a game of best-in-class targeting! Mobsta Ltd - Certified B Corp® has partnered with AFC Dunstable this footballing season to support the club in becoming UK’s first B-Corp football team. With their street cred firmly on the line, we had some great fun with all the kickers in our mini Mobsta stadium! Massive shout outs to: ⚡ Nik Gill for being on hand to help and generate a buzz ⚽ Jack Bailey for a whopping 37 points and a possible career switch from Planning to the Premier League 🏆 Liv Joy– for being the most competitive (!) 🪴 Lucinda Kingham, Leah Garvey and the rest of the Mindshare marketing team – for their support and organising yet another excellent Huddle #mindshare #huddle2024 #goodgrowth #afcdunstable #mobsta
